  The Detail...

In the heart of the North Wales countryside, offering dazzling views over Chester and the Welsh hills, Rackery Retreat is an eight-acre meadow with three safari-style tents, each bursting with the comforts you need for a twenty-first century glamping holiday. With a fully functioning kitchen, plumbed in bathroom facilities, and sleeping for up to six guests, each of three tree-themed glamping tents are proof that spending a night under canvas doesnt have to mean a compromise on luxury.

The Willow is a four-person tent, combining timber and canvas to create a large living space equipped with a wood-burning stove. A king-sized four poster bed sleeps two, with space for two more in the wooden tree-house style bunks in the main living room. The kitchen has everything you need to cook up a storm at the end of the day, with a gas hob, refrigerator, kettle and toaster. The spacious wooden decking at the front is the perfect spot to relax at the end of the day, taking in the views and enjoying a cold beer with friends or family. All bedlinen and towels are provided, and theres even a private hot tub for you to enjoy.

The Oak is a tent with the same amenities in a slightly different layout, while The Beech offers two additional single beds in a mezzanine-style upstairs sleeping platform. Each of the three tents has a full bathroom, with lashings of hot water and strong pressure, meaning that you get the full romance of the outdoor lifestyle while being able to maintain a degree of comfort usually only possible with indoors living.

This region of North Wales is an unspoiled paradise, characterised by rolling hills, clean air, and an atmosphere of country living. Those who enjoy hiking, mountain biking, birdwatching, and other typical rural pursuits will find themselves in paradise, while the nearby towns of Wrexham and the ancient Roman town of Chester offer urbane, metropolitan centres for day trips from the glampsite.

If you do make the quick trip to Chester, be sure to stop by The Botanist for a complimentary drink and 20% off your meal. The zoo and racecourse are also a popular day out for all of the family. Alternatively, there are a number of excellent local pubs in the immediate area, many of which offer great local food, in addition to brilliant local ales, roaring good cheer, and winning atmospheres. For dramatic landscapes and sweeping views, head to nearby Llangollen, Bala, or the famous Snowdonia Park. There are also a number of recommendations within the pamphlet found in your tent.
