If you’re looking for a long relaxing break by the sea, or just a quick stop off as you tour Northern Ireland, then Ketch is perfect for you. This wonderfully charming, seaside holiday home, which comfortably sleeps four people, is sat in the picturesque St John’s Point Lighthouse Station.
Nestled above the rugged coastline in County Down, Ketch offers guests the chance to live the life of a light keeper, beneath the large, looming St John’s Point Lighthouse, that’s boldly sporting its vibrant bands of black and yellow stripes.
As you wander the grounds, gazing up at the lighthouse, whilst hearing the sounds of the sea, you’ll experience that wonderful feeling of peace that comes with being on the coast. Secluded, and away from the hustle and bustle of every-day life, Ketch offers you plenty of peace and quiet, allowing you to switch off and unwind whilst taking in your gorgeous surroundings.
Inside, this charming holiday home has comfy furnishings, pastel shades, and lovely nautical touches such as ornaments in the shape of anchors and other boating trinkets. There are nice wooden floors, comfy furniture, and a fully functional kitchen offering you the chance to cook up some tasty, locally sourced treats. Upstairs are the two bedrooms - one double and one single - and there’s also a nice family bathroom with a bath tub - the perfect spot for a relaxing soak after a day out walking the coastline.
In summer be sure to head out and explore the surrounding area. Wander the meandering coastlines of County Down, head over and visit the gorgeous Strangford Lough - an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and venture into the charming village of Killough. Or jump in the car and make the one hour drive to Belfast where you can visit a number of lovely pubs and restaurants as well as the splendid Titanic Museum. And come the autumn and winter months, when the wind is howling outside, just curl up under a blanket with a book and shelter from the cold.
You can now live the life of a lightkeeper in this remote and beautiful spot. Please note that Sloop is an attached property. There are residents onsite. They have a dog that has free roam of the site. There are low height doorways and low height ceilings throughout the property.
