  The Detail...

Truly escape the stresses of everyday life on your own private Hebridean island at the Boat House, one of the eco-friendly Isle of Shuna Farm Cottages. Located in one of the most beautiful parts of Scotland, this eco-friendly retreat will be like no other. Shuna is a working farm but has no power lines and instead is a model of sustainability, with its solar panels and small turbine utilising the power of the sun and the wind instead to provide electricity.

The Boat House is located at the North Pier on the island. This 6-bedroom property may be situated in an area where time stood still, but that does not mean it lacks the luxuries of modern living. The accommodation sits on the top floor of the newly completed oak boat house, with the huge open-plan sitting/dining room and kitchen acting as the hub. Comfy sofas and a wood burning stove make it a great space for snuggling up in, while double doors open onto a terrace with seating - perfect for looking out across the stunning views of Shuna Loch. The fully equipped kitchen is complete with Aga Range Master and LED lighting.

Wood panelling on the floors and ceilings throughout give the feeling of being in a cabin, with guests sleeping across 3 bedrooms. There is a double room with ensuite complete with bath shower and also 2 further twin rooms with a shared bathroom.

The Boat House comes with access to a 17 foot aluminium hulled open assault craft, which has a small outboard motor. This means that those staying can get out on the water for a spot of fishing, or to explore the sheltered bays and unspoilt beaches of the uninhabited islands.

The true beauty of the 3-mile island of Shuna is how untouched it has been by modern life. Explore an area with no cars, no telephones and no roads. Instead there is just an abundance of wildlife, including deer, otters, seals and eagles and the opportunity to help on the working farm if desired. It is also worth a visit to the Victorian neo-gothic ruined castle, considered the main architectural feature of the island.
