Dumfries & Galloway, Scotland
A beautiful eco-cottage in the Scottish countryside and just moments from a private beach.
This property has a 7 nights minimum stay in high season.
The High Lodge is a beautiful little 18th century gamekeepers cottage. Set within the Galloway House Estate in the idyllic Dumfries and Galloway countryside and includes its own private beach and mile upon mile of country walks to indulge in.
The High Lodge cottage has been lovingly restored to a high standard - making it impossibly cosy and wonderfully relaxing, it’s the perfect option for those that like to travel off the grid - as the cottage has solar panels and a small windmill.
The lodge is for the adventurous at heart, this is a place for those who are in search of a romantic getaway, far away from the constraints of everyday life - a place to lose yourself in. The cottage has been perfectly realised with couples in mind - with just a single attic bedroom with a cosy den and a comfortable double bed tucked perfectly under the original wooden beams of the ceiling. The sitting room has been modelled around the real wood burning fireplace and comes with a sofa bed too - just in case.
The small, but perfectly formed kitchen comes with a Ray-burn, which gives the room a cosy and inviting appeal, while the bathroom has a beautiful large free-standing bath and views of the orchard - making in wonderfully romantic.
The views from the cottage are wonderful too, with windows opening out to the rolling hills of the local countryside that lead to the beauty of the local beach and the Atlantic Ocean - with not another house in sight! The lodge is a part of the Galloway House Estate and therefore has great access to a long list of other amenities including a tennis court, golf course, a large games room and easy access to sea and fresh water fishing. The estate also has its own beach which is just a short 10-minute walk away, and the rustic grounds are perfect for long romantic walks.
When it comes to exploring the locale then we suggest the charming Wigtown - Scotland’s infamous book town. Home to almost 20 second hand bookshops, a collection of thatched cottages and other historic architecture, including a typical parish church which dates back as far as the 13th century.
Deck with outside sofa and arm chairs. Wood fired pizza oven.
