The Details...

Greenfield cottage is a red brick beauty set amidst the winding cobbled streets of one of the prettiest seaside villages in Yorkshire. With fabulous Victorian interiors and breathtaking sea views from the bedrooms, its an utterly charming bolthole. And with stunning walks from the door and plenty of traditional local pubs within walking distance it has the makings of a rather magical holiday.

The open-plan lounge, dining and kitchen area is bursting with character. The lounge is sumptuously cosy with comfortable sofas, an original red tiled floor and a wood burning stove set in a handsome Victorian fireplace. And the owners fabulous collections of local objects really add to the sense of history found in this charismatic house.

The kitchen simply oozes character with a soft green colour scheme, metro tiles and a large butler sink. The bespoke kitchen may look traditional but its bursting with all the mod cons - from a Miele washer/dryer to a handy dishwasher and full size fridge with icebox. Sitting between the kitchen and lounge, the dining table with its period light fitting sits beautifully in the elegant bay window - a truly delightful spot for your morning cup of tea.

On the first floor there is a large double bedroom. With antique furniture, gorgeous soft grey walls and painted floorboards its a beautifully calm space. Quality linens, plump cushions and pretty curtains finish the room off perfectly.

On the second floor there are a further two bedrooms, a double and a single. The double bedrooms sumptuous blue colour scheme is the perfect backdrop to the striking objects that are dotted round the room - from stunning patterned tiles to the antique cot come book storage. And the very sweet, simply-furnished single enjoys the same lovely views over Robin Hood Bay as the double bedroom.

The first-floor bathroom is delightful with elegant Victorian tiles, a large bath and overhead shower. Theres also an additional toilet room on the second floor.

Outside there is a lovely seating area at the end of the front path. Its a gloriously tranquil part of the village so youre guaranteed peace and quiet - apart from the odd chirping from the tame local birds.

The house itself is only a two minute walk to the pretty beach and quayside. Its a great place for walking as youre right at the start of Wainwrights famous coast to coast walk - catch the tide right and you can walk for miles along the long sandy beach. The village itself boasts pretty winding cobbled streets with plenty of curiosity shops, tearooms and art studios to explore. And the hungry amongst us will be pleased to hear that there are plenty of places to eat out - from quaint pubs serving up delicious pub grub to traditional fish and chips at the quayside. Perfect.
