The Details...

Lose yourself in 20 acres of beautiful private woodland and unwind in the charming country house set within it. Glasnant is located in the stunning Welsh countryside, just six miles from Hay-on-Wye, the market town known worldwide for its bookshops. This enchanting countryside retreat features a wood-fired hot tub and a campfire cooking area complete with an outdoor kitchen. Inside the house itself, youll find contemporary furnishings that inspire a feeling of luxury while still being welcoming and cosy. Beautiful bedrooms, wood-burning stoves and freestanding bathtubs create an inviting haven after a day exploring the fairytale woodland.

When you arrive, youll find the courtyard and the outdoor cooking area. Youll have everything you need to cook some delicious meals over the campfire, including a tripod and cast iron cooking pans. Theres also a BBQ and a sink at your disposal. From the courtyard, theres access to three recently refurbished bedrooms, all with ensuite bathrooms and their own private entrances.

Access to the main house is via a beautiful stone bridge which crosses a small stream. Inside, youll find an open-plan living and dining area with a stunning double-sided woodburning stove in the centre. The large modern kitchen is well-equipped to cater for large groups with its range cooker and even the tap water is delicious, supplied by a natural spring. The snug doubles as a cinema room with a three metre projector screen and surround sound. Snuggle up in front of the wood-burning stove and enjoy a film or two in the evenings. There are a further four bedrooms in the main house, all beautifully furnished in a contemporary style. Luxurious mattresses and crisp, clean sheets await. There are a further two bathrooms and a toilet in the main house.

A little up the path from the house, youll come to the wood-fired hot tub waiting beside the stream. Firewood is provided with fires made up for you before your arrival and more logs are available for purchase. The garden surrounding the house leads straight into the woodland which is a private nature reserve. This provides a haven for all kinds of wildlife, from badgers to pied flycatchers and kingfishers. The surrounding woodland and open countryside beyond provides walkers with endless miles of paths and trails to explore with stunning scenery to enjoy along the way.

If you want to explore a little further into the local area, a trip to Hay-on-Wye is a must. This charming town is famed for its many bookshops, some of which specialise in very specific genres. Visit Roses Books for rare or out-of-print childrens books or Murder and Mayhem if crime and horror is more your thing. Its not just about the books though. Visit on Thursday to peruse the market where you can purchase anything from fresh local produce to vintage clothing. There are also some excellent pubs where you can grab a drink and a bite to eat. Kilverts has a great beer garden while The Old Black Lion has a wonderful pub menu.
