  The Detail...

Offering some of the most glamorous glamping on the island, Glamping The Wight Ways canvas lodges really feel like home. Towards the Isle of Wights western tip, the site enjoys a handy location too, within a short walk or drive of the shops, cafs and bars of Freshwater and Yarmouth.

Looking out to the River Yar, each lodge features bi-folding doors to a deck where you can watch the sunrise, often spectacularly. Inside, handmade wooden furniture and fittings, made by local craftsmen, lend a rustic feel.

The kitchen centres around a cast-iron wood burner and oven, and you have a fridge, Butler sink and tons of kitchenware including a kettle on the hob. A selection of essentials including tea, coffee and hot chocolate are supplied too, and a wooden table and sheepskin-covered benches give you a comfortable space to dine. A highchair, toddler loo seat and step are all available

Plenty of natural light floods into the main living area, with a sofa, coffee table and board games to play. This area can also be used for sleeping as the seating converts to a double sofa-bed. Two further double bedrooms give you more choices, and one of these can be used as a twin. A third bedroom with long, extra-height bunk beds and is suitable for either adults or children. Each bedroom has plenty of storage space.

Another big surprise is the gorgeous bathroom, complete with a roll-top slipper bath and hot water courtesy of a wood-burning water heater. Theres also an additional washroom with an extra WC and basin and, to make you feel even more pampered, toiletries and towels are supplied too.

You can dine out on the deck or make use of the fire-bowl with barbecue rack for a real campfire experience. Sit and watch the stars from the swinging chair on the deck its big enough for two.

The nearby village of Freshwater has all sorts of independent shops, including a fish and chip shop and cafs. Yarmouth is a larger town but still small and friendly, with more pubs, a bakery, deli and more within a short walk of its pretty harbour.

On the Isle of Wight, nothing is really too far away you can drive to the opposite coast in 40 minutes, where Shanklin, Sandown and Ventnor await you, while the islands largest town, Newport is even closer. To the north, you could head for coastal favourite Cowes. Theres a lot to see around the island, from beautiful beaches to regular cultural festivals, plus a thriving food scene ensures you will never go short of a great meal.

So is it time to finally discover the Isle of Wight? Go Glamping The Wight Way and you cant go wrong.
