Amongst the lush, green fields of the Devon countryside, occupying a private spot behind rolling hills and adjacent to a pretty pond, Cowbrye offers guests a peaceful stay amongst nature. The pretty surroundings are ever present, and guests can enjoy lovely relaxing views of the abundant greenery.
Arriving at the cottage, visitors will be struck by the quiet, countryside location and the spacious grounds which are home to ducks, geese and many other bird species. Take a seat on the picnic table by the pond and watch the wildlife go about their day, breathe in the fresh air, and enjoy the silence which is interrupted by only the sounds of nature.
Inside the cottage, a lovely, practical open plan living, kitchen and dining area is spacious and well-furnished with a huge corner sofa and large dining table. A wood burner sits in the fireplace for cosy nights playing board games and catching up with family and friends. Calming off-whites compliment the natural browns of the exposed timbers which run across the ceilings of this three-bedroom farm cottage which has been decorated tastefully in a crisp, modern style. Just off to the side, there is a kitchen, with all the apparatus cooks might require to whip-up full breakfasts, Sunday roasts or celebratory meals.
Two of the three bedrooms are on the ground floor, making this a great choice for any visitors uncomfortable with a lot of stairs. One is a twin, the other a double, and both have modern bathrooms with large showers. Tongue and groove panelling, traditional quilts (as well as duvets) and cute prints add character to these lovely rooms. The third room is on the top floor of the cottage and is a good-sized double with en-suite. As with all the beds in the house, mattresses are comfy, linens crisp and white and curtains thick, guaranteeing a cosy nights sleep.
Cowbyre makes a great choice for families with children, there is a large expanse of space to run around and explore with play equipment outside. Making lazy days easy for all the family to enjoy. Nearby, there is the best of Devon to enjoy. Honiton is a lovely market town famous for its antique shops, while hikers will want to explore the pretty South West Coastal Path which is just 20 minutes away.
The area is spoilt with fabulous beaches, from the surf beaches of North Devon to the picturesque South Hams. And when appetites need satisfying head to The Sidmouth Arms which is just an 8 minute stroll from the cottage, or for something more formal try Michael Caine's at Lympstone Manor or The Pig at Coombe.
