The detail

In the heart of Ludlow, a quaint but vibrant medieval market town in Shropshire, Charlie’s Cottage is a delightful self-catered cottage with sleeping space for three people between two bedrooms. Ideal for couples and small families, Charlie’s Cottage is the perfect getaway for anybody looking to be based close to the amenities of the town but with easy access to the rolling green spaces the wider area is known for.

Just a four minute walk from the train station, access to Charlie’s cottage is simple and speedy. Once inside, you’ll find an elegant main living space with a wood effect imitation stove and a Smart TV. The characteristic Tudor beams, which give the house such a distinctive style, run overhead, and neutral colours have been used to create an immediate sense of warmth. On the same level you’ll find the kitchen, a recently refurbished and functional space fitted to a high standard. Everything you need for cater for three is right there, whether you’re preparing packed lunches to take out to Shropshire, or whipping up a feast using fresh local ingredients. The stairs taking you to the next level are the original hardwood treads and risers, just one of the wonderful features which make Charlie’s Cottage such a delight to inhabit.

On the first floor you’ll find the master bedroom, with its king-size bed, chest of drawers, and a second Smart TV. From the chandelier to the bedside tables, everything in this delightful space has been judiciously selected to combine comfort with elegance. On the same floor you’ll find the second bedroom, with its single bed and airy, light-filled atmosphere, and the modern bathroom, with its freestanding vanity and walk-in shower. Outside, a patio area is enclosed, giving parents of younger children greater peace of mind, and a full set of outdoor furniture is provided for al fresco meals or drinks.

As well as proving the perfect base for exploring the stunning topographies of Shropshire and Wales, Ludlow is a wonderful getaway for lovers of food, culture and architecture. Throughout the year, festivals like the Ludlow Food and Drink Festival, Christmas Fayre, and Secret Gardens of Ludlow all provide wonderful opportunities to eat, drink, view and socialise against a delightful festive backdrop. Whatever the season, mainstays like the town’s specialty cheese shop, award winning brewery, and the excellent Dog Hangs Well pub remain open for business, beer, and good cheer. Whether you’re into fly-fishing or horse-racing, there’s something for every hobbyist and enthusiast in this gem of Shropshire. There are also a number of markets throughout the month specialising in high quality food, drinks, and locally produced arts and crafts.
