You'll find Caochan na Creige close to the shores of the Isle of Harris with stunning views across the sea to Skye. The name translates to 'little quiet one by the rock', inspired by the serenity of its location and the rugged landscape surrounding it. It has been built using Lewisian Gneiss rock from a quarry less than five miles away and its unusual design blends in with the natural landscape. This unique cottage offers couples or solo travellers the chance to slow down the pace and reconnect with nature.
Step inside and you'll find the interior has a contemporary feel, with floor-to-ceiling windows flooding the living area with natural light and making the most of the stunning views. Timber details in the furnishings and ceilings create a warm and welcoming atmosphere while connecting you to the outdoors. The unique shape of the building means that each room flows into the next via soft angles that were inspired by the island's famous blackhouses.
After a day exploring the island, discovering pristine beaches and charming villages, put your feet up in the cosy living room. Get a fire going in the stove and relax on the sofa with a good book or simply enjoy the view. Rustle up your favourite meals in the fully-equipped kitchen or prepare a picnic to take out with you on a long walk along the shoreline.
You can choose to embrace the peaceful solitude offered by the house or venture out to explore the rich heritage and beautiful landscapes of the Isle of Harris. There are plenty of hiking opportunities with coastal trails or routes that take you to the peaks of mountains like Clisham, the highest in the Outer Hebrides. Discover the mysterious standing stones at Callanish or the stunning medieval St Clement's Church in Rodel. Visit traditional weaver's workshops as they craft the famous Harris Tweed or take a boat trip to spot whales and dolphins in the surrounding waters. There are watersports available too with sailing and kayaking offering a different way to explore the beautiful coastline, discovering sandy beaches and coves along the way.
