Braemar cottage is in the heart of pretty West Linton and is a romantic hideout for couples. With a cosy log burner and soft, Scottish plaids, it is an intimate retreat for secluded, country stays. Walk hand in hand through the rolling fields or picnic in the meadows, before strolling through the cobbled streets of the village.
Huddled in a chocolate-box village in the wild Scottish Borders, this enchanting, little cottage is perfect for runaway lovers. A rich, red door leads past the quaint, stone exterior where you’ll find a contemporary, country décor finished with precious details. Its period features have been beautifully restored and include low ceilings, steep stairs and an original, stone fireplace.
The adorable living room is warm and inviting and has a soothing colour palette with sophisticated hues. Pale purples and gentle greys bring the romance of the outdoors in, and are joined by casual sprigs of heather and handpicked, garden flowers. Natural wool blankets drape the comfy, sink-in sofas, while a petite dining table sits beside the roaring, wood burner.
A bijou, country kitchen can also be found downstairs and has duck egg blue cupboards and thick wooden worktops. A two burner hob is on hand for cooking, as is an electric oven and a compact fridge/freezer.
Follow the narrow staircase up into the first floor rafters and hidden in the sloped roof you’ll find a relaxing double bedroom. Finished with subtle reds and a boutique, stag design, it is a gorgeous room for long morning lie-ins. A deluxe, modern bathroom can also be found back downstairs and has a chic, designer finish with luxury toiletries.
The village of West Linton has an undeniable charisma and is ideally placed for exploring the legendary Scottish Borders. Charming country pubs brim with a nostalgic character and are joined by bustling tea rooms and delicious, local restaurants. The lush Pentland Hills frame the traditional stone houses and look down on the rugged, rural pastures and ancient woodlands. Penicuik, Peebles and Biggar can also be found nearby, along with the iconic city of Edinburgh which is just 16 miles out. Closer to home, you can sit out in the courtyard and soak up the country air and village atmosphere. With a sweet picnic bench and aromatic shrubs, it is a tranquil spot to share with the one you love.
