  The Detail...

Blackbird Barn and Rock Cottage sit side by side in the pretty hamlet of Llanwarne in glorious rural Herefordshire, rented together they offer flexible space and room for everyone to relax. Creative interiors simply ooze style and comfort - from the cosy wood burning stoves to the beautifully bespoke kitchens - youre privy to some serious five star treatment.

Rock Cottage is a charming 350 year old cottage with roses growing round the door and a little ruined chapel in the garden. It sleeps four in two double rooms, with the option of an extra single bed in the study. The style is gorgeous, a mixture of rustic and contemporary, filled with little details, original artworks, cosy blankets, candles and books.

The living room is the heart of the cottage, with old wooden beams across the ceiling, a big comfortable sofa piled with cushions, and armchairs all gathered around the wood burning stove, plus a flat screen TV, Bang and Olufsen sound system and piles of board games. Next door to the living room is the dining room, painted a gorgeous dark green and with the original tiles on the floor and another wood burning stove. It has a big wooden table, complete with table linen and a full range of glasses and dining ware for up to six - lit by candles after dark it's a magical space for a meal.

The large cottage kitchen, with rustic tiled floor, is very well equipped, with Le Creuset and Falcon cook ware. There is a free bottle of wine to greet you and an honesty crate of wine from the owners' vineyard, from which you can help yourself.

Upstairs are two generous sized double bedrooms, with soft king-size beds made-up with crisp bed linen and warm blankets. One room is painted a dusty pink and the other is Georgian blue, both have a calm and minimal feel. Upstairs you'll also find a bathroom with luxurious roll-top bath with shower attachment. There's another bathroom downstairs with a shower.

Blackbird Barn is a few steps away from the cottage. The open-plan kitchen, dining and lounge area is breathtaking. With a vaulted ceiling taking centre stage, youll be won over as soon as you step through the door. The kitchen is a rustic-styling masterpiece - with a wooden butcher's block at its heart. The apple-crate storage is bursting with stylish crockery, retro glassware and inspirational cook books. And with a large fridge-freezer and five-ring gas cooker you have everything you need to release your inner culinary artist. Although if youd rather not cook, then theres a great selection of meals in the freezer - just leave the money on the table when you leave. Perfect.

The large dining table with its fabulous reclaimed chairs is perfectly placed overlooking the patio doors - the ideal spot for your morning coffee as you contemplate the day.

The lounge is a cosy affair with a comfortable sofa, bright textiles and a lovely selection of colourful ceramics. Theres also a record player, flat screen television and a handsome wood burning stove (complete with baskets overflowing with an unlimited supply of wood). Perfect for those cosy nights in.

Head past the gallery of artwork up the stairs to the romantic mezzanine bedroom. With beautiful beams overhead - its a delightful space to relax in. The king size bed, feather duvet and gorgeously vibrant woollen cushions and cosy blanket ensure a great nights sleep. And the selection of books, magazines and fluffy robes show how the owners take pleasure in providing those little deluxe extras.

Downstairs, the bathroom is as luxurious as it is eccentric. With a lavish roll top bath, walk-in shower and luxury toiletries there is all you would expect of this spectacular property. And the artistic display of reclaimed carpentry tools festooned with colourful birds adds an unexpected but rather fabulous focal point!

Outside there is a paved courtyard with a repurposed carpenters bench table and chairs - add to that a BBQ and youve got a great place to see out a long summers evening in style. And as the stars come out, the lack of street lighting makes it a great place to do some star gazing.

The cottage and barn are fabulously located on the Welsh border, which means you get the best of both worlds. Choose from rural ambles directly from your door. Or head out to the market towns of Monmouth and Ross-on-Wye - both of which are about 20 minutes away. And the creative centre of Hay-on-Wye with its array of bookshops, antiques and vibrant cafes is just 45 minutes up the road.
