Comprised of the Bee Hive and Honey Comb yurts, Birkins Croft is a luxury woodland retreat hidden in the depths of rural Derbyshire. With their rustic wooden interiors, the yurts blend into the natural setting and enforce relaxation at every opportunity. With a hot tub area and outdoor seating illuminated by fairy lights at night, Birkins Croft is the ideal location for pressing the reset button.
A stunning woodland retreat, Birkins Croft is a luxury yurt experience located in the quaint hamlet of Foston, Derbyshire, mere minutes from the charming village of Tutbury. The Bee Hive is the main wooden yurt, sleeping four across a double bed and a pull-out sofa bed. Bookings for larger parties can be accomplished by securing the Honey Comb yurt, sleeping three across a bunk bed with a double bed on the bottom and a single on the top.
This woodland retreat boasts an expanse of outdoor space for guests to truly assimilate with nature, featuring a fire pit area, a hot tub, and an outdoor kitchen complete with a long, homely wooden table for family meals. The retreat further features WiFi, free on-site parking, and a 32 inch TV. Bedding and towels are provided as are tea and coffee making facilities. For added convenience, guests also have a hairdryer, an iron and ironing board, and an electric shower complete with shampoo, conditioner and body wash. The shower sits inside a refreshingly modern bathroom hosting forward-thinking wooden interiors and a freestanding sink. Wood for the Hive’s log burner is included, and the Honey Comb is furnished with an electric heater for maximum comfort. Birkins Croft is self-catered, though the kitchen provides utensils, pots and pans.
Nestled in the hamlet of Foston, Derbyshire, Birkins Croft is an idyllic retreat. Fifteen minutes by car lies Tutbury Castle, a medieval site featuring a Tudor Garden and ghost hunts alike, having hosted Eleanor of Aquitaine and Mary, Queen of Scots. Fauld Crater similarly offers an insight into the local history and is the site of one of the largest non-nuclear explosions in history. Church Farm Tea Rooms and Children's Farm poses a fantastic opportunity for a spot of afternoon tea, and the further afield Derby offers up Derby Museum and Art Gallery, Derby Cathedral and the stunning Markeaton and Darley Parks.

Just returned from the perfect weekend away. We loved every detail. Great remote setting, every detail has been thought about. Hosts were perfect. The beds are comfortable, lots of room. The bathroom is clean and private, the site is enclosed so out dogs had an amazing get away. Close to shops take aways and pub too. 5* everything.

We just returned from a stay at Birkins Croft and I really cannot recommend higher! The main cabin is stunning with such lovely features, the smaller cabin was also cosy! All of the facilities were fabulous for a weekend stay and the hot tub was an added bonus! Having dogs with us the outside area was perfect as they could roam off lead safely which was a huge selling point. The location was perfect, a short walk to a local tea room and a couple of minutes drive to local shops/pubs, the local fish + chips was also really amazing value for money. Overall we loved our stay and would highly recommend, such good value for money and the hosts couldn’t be more helpful - thank you again Ellie for posting my coat back to me ???? We hope to be back soon!

Absolutely amazing little place. We stayed for a couple of days in early September. The little enclosed woodland is stunning and every little detail has been thought about. The yurt is beautiful and the honeycomb is great for extra guests. We cannot recommend this beautiful place enough. Thank you.

We have just arrived home from our fantastic stay at Birkins Croft this week. This beautiful place exceeded expectations, we felt relaxed and at home the moment we walked through the gate. Jay and Ellie were fantastic hosts, respected our privacy but on hand at any point if we had any queries and the little personal touches were a lovely surprise. Would highly recommend, we are already planning to return next year with friends.

We stayed here as a group of friends who hadn’t been away together since we were at school. The setting is a perfect little private oasis that really gives you the opportunity to relax, enjoy quality time together, in a really comfortable cosy setting. We especially enjoyed the hot tub, and camp fire. We also used it as a a bit of base to explore Carsington waters and the surrounding areas. We ate at a local pub in the near by village and also the Indian which was delicious. There’s also a cute little farm shop down the road that does a great breakfast! Thanks so much for our perfect break away, Birkins Croft really is a Cool Stay!

This really is glamping in style. The Hive is cosy by day with the warmth of the sun flooding the skylights, and snug by night with the woodburner. The outdoor bathroom is luxurious and warm with a heated towel rail, proper flushing loo, and ample shower. The outdoor kitchen is an amazing space, as is the firepit area with incredible carved wooden seats. The icing on the cake though is the toasty, bubbly hot tub. Ellie and Jay are amazing hosts. Friendly, prompt with communication and couldn't do enough for us while at the same time respecting our privacy. The whole site has been improved since they took it on with ambient lighting and a very cute bee theme. Although it isn't far from the bypass, it is an oasis of calm and a wildlife haven. We saw a treecreeper from the comfort of our sumptuous bed through the skylight in the tree canopy above! We had an amazing experience staying here and sure anyone who books it will too.
