Quiet luxury meets panoramic rural views at this beautiful hillside lodge on a Perthshire estate.
If you're looking for a luxurious property set in the heart of the wild Scottish landscape, look no further. Aodin is an impeccable country house, offering five en-suite bedrooms and stunning views over the Tay Valley.
Refurbished by a professional interior designer, this 19th century lodge has been expanded with a sympathetic extension to create a spacious retreat. It sits on a hillside within a 4000 acre farming and shooting estate in Strathtay. Huge views stretch off in every direction and are visible through nearly every window.
Downstairs you'll find four of the bedrooms, plus the stunning kitchen dining area. This has been designed to make the most of the views, with glass walls around the dining table and doors opening out onto the patio and garden.
The kitchen itself is warm and welcoming, and fitted with wooden cupboards painted a calm grey blue. It's fully kitted out with everything a chef could require, including a range cooker, two dishwashers, a large fridge, wine fridge, microwave and boiling water tap. There is a beautiful collection of crockery and cutlery from The White Company. Tucked away in the useful utility room is a further freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer.
The four downstairs bedrooms are all ensuite and made up with top quality luxury bedlinen, plus sumptuous towels and bathrobes. Two bedrooms are zip and link, so can be either super-kingsize doubles, or twins. The second two are both kingsize. Each has their own style and is decorated with a palate of soft, restful colours.
Up on the first floor, the master bedroom features a private balcony, the ideal spot for morning coffee. With its epic country views, roll-top bath and kingsize bed with handsome green velvet bedhead, this feels like a truly special space.
Also on the first floor is the living area. Arranged around a huge floor-to-ceiling window and set under the eaves of the room, it feels both grand yet cosy. Plush sofas are angled to enjoy the view, while another seating area snuggles around the wood burning stove. Check out the other end of the room to find the secret bar and wine fridge, perfect for a pre-dinner cocktail or late-night glass of whisky.
In addition there's a TV snug, including giant TV, sofa and beanbags so you can settle down for a family movie night, or while away a rainy afternoon.
Outside, the beautiful landscape of central Scotland stretches as far as the eye can see. Aodin sits on the Edradynate Estate, on the banks of the magnificent River Tay. Further afield, the little town of Aberfeldy offers shops, local pubs and places to eat. The surrounding countryside is dotted with ancient castles, distilleries, golf courses and some excellent restaurants.
