An endlessly cosy holiday destination, this property sleeps two, with a double bed, woodburning fire, small dining table and a cosy armchair. The comfy bed offers a great night's sleep and features fluffy throws and an array of furry cushions aptly suited to the surrounding wildlife.
Overlooking the private lake, the treehouse is truly isolated, surrounded by nothing but the tree-tops and the accompanying roaming wild animals, from birds to wild deer. For a small £5 fee, logs can be purchased to fuel the woodburning fire, which can keep guests toasty and warm after an afternoon of relaxing amidst the Devonshire greenery. With two windows, a glass door and glass double doors, this property truly merges with the landscape, welcoming in the natural light for a blissful awakening. The treehouse is designed to be totally rustic, so basic cooking can be done using a gas-fired camp stove, and a kettle can be boiled for a warming cup of tea. Fresh water is provided from a bowser, and the private, eco-friendly, sawdust toilet is located in a separate building a few steps from the treehouse.
Guests will love sitting outside taking in the peace of their surroundings. Spend lazy afternoons down by the water's edge, or head out on the rowing boat to enjoy the lake in style. And if you wish to venture further afield, the surrounding area has plenty to offer. Roadford Lake Country Park is located in nearby Lifton, hosting water sports, cycling and more, and Lydford Gorge is an essential trip for all budding geologists. The Museum of Dartmoor Life offers an insight into the local history, with the impressive, ruinous Okehampton Castle presenting an intriguing example of a medieval motte and bailey formation, built between 1068 and 1086. Simmons Park and War House Valley Country Farm Park promise lush greenery, and of course, the famous Dartmoor National Park is one hour away by car, hosting wild, open moorlands and profound river valleys.
