If you’re looking for a romantic break in the Peak District with that special someone, or you’re on the hunt for a group retreat with friends and family, then Wildhive at Callow Hall is most certainly the place for you. With a boutique hotel offering 15 exquisite bedrooms and a collection of woodland dwellings tucked away in the trees, there really is something for everyone here. On top of this, you can also hire the entire estate for a giant group getaway, with the whole property sleeping up to 60 guests, making it perfect for your dream wedding.
Up first is the superb hotel in the main house. Here, you’ll find 15 beautifully designed bedrooms that all offer the same luxurious furnishings and peaceful, calming atmosphere, ensuring you and your partner can enjoy an indulgent and relaxing break. All of the rooms offer lovely views of the grounds and giant beds that are dressed in gorgeous bedding. Add to this the deluxe 100 Acres botanical bathroom products and free-standing bathtubs, and you’ve got your perfect couple’s retreat.
When you step out of your room and wander the house, you’ll be blown away by the opulence, with its interiors designed by designer Isabella Worsley. The home offers rich fabrics, bold colour palettes and some delightful botanical touches, and a selection of curated antiques add a classical touch. Be sure to lounge in the grand living room, where statement sofas and a feature fireplace offer you the chance to catch up with loved ones in style.
If you fancy something a bit more adventurous, then you can opt to stay in one of the woodland hideaways. There are two types of hideaway on offer, that both ensure you can be at one with nature, whilst indulging in a bit of peace and quiet.
Up first are the Treehouses. These wonderful cabins are hidden away in the trees and sleep up to five guests each across two bedrooms. Rich wood combines with the views outside to create a rustic, calming atmosphere, and when the weather’s warm you can unwind together on your private wrap-around deck whilst taking in your surroundings. Out here you’ll find a free-standing copper bathtub for indulgent soaks and loungers for moonlit evenings spent gazing at the stars. The treehouses also feature open-plan living and kitchen spaces, smart TVs, coffee machines and ensuite shower rooms with yet more 100 Acre toiletries and complimentary bathrobes.
Next up are the equally lovely Hives. These cosy woodland cabins are perfect for couples, with king size beds and ensuite rainfall showers. Secluded and intimate, each hive offers double doors that open up onto private terraces with outdoor seating where you can unwind with an evening drink listening to the sounds of the woods. You’re just a short hop from the main house, restaurant and bar, but you’re still afforded plenty of privacy during your stay.
The Hives all have luxury ensuite shower rooms, cosy open-plan living areas, smart TVs and coffee machines for that all-important first brew of the day.
Whichever room you choose, you can wander down to the charming Garden Bar in the evening for a cocktail or head to the superb restaurant for something to eat. The menu showcases fresh, locally sourced ingredients - including produce from the on-site kitchen garden. Head Chef Tom Burton and his team serve dishes ranging from Derbyshire lamb koftas to line-caught mackerel ceviche, inspired by Executive Chef David Bukowicki’s global and British travels. With relaxed dining spaces, it’s ideal for anything from a post-walk lunch to a romantic dinner. And, if you’re staying at Wildhive, your food is included in your stay.
If you fancy a bit more indulgence, then head to the on-site spa for a treatment. Pamper yourself with a range of botanical facials, relaxing and nourishing massages, or simply sit back and unwind in the sauna. There are also yoga classes throughout the day that you can join if you wish.
You can also head out and explore the gardens and grounds of this 35-acre estate, where you’ll be able to spot wildlife including deer, badgers and rabbits whilst wandering winding streams and ancient woodland.
If you wish to venture further afield, you have the Peak District on your doorstep, with a range of amazing walking routes and charming market towns just waiting to be explored.
