Perched above the sweeping sands of Widemouth Bay, West Haven is a magnificent coastal house where old-world character meets modern Cornish charm. Originally built in 1924 and lovingly renovated in 2022, this spacious five-bedroom retreat offers panoramic sea views, sun-drenched gardens and a warm, homely feel from the moment you arrive. With room for up to 12 guests, and the beach just a few minutes’ stroll away, it’s the perfect seaside escape for families, friends and four-legged companions alike. This property is also available to book as a six-sleeper across three downstairs bedrooms at a reduced rate. Contact the owners for more details.
Step inside and you’ll find light-filled spaces that blend traditional features with contemporary style. Polished wooden floors flow through the house, creating a relaxed, coastal atmosphere. The large open-plan kitchen and dining area is the true heart of the home, ideal for long breakfasts with sea views or lively dinners that stretch into the evening. The kitchen is beautifully equipped, complete with an island and breakfast bar that invite conversation while cooking. French bifold doors lead out to the terrace, seamlessly connecting inside and out.
After a day on the beach, gather in the elegant sitting room with its feature fireplace and wood-burner, perfect for cosy nights in. For some friendly competition, head to the games room where you’ll find table football and a snooker table with Atlantic views. There’s even a beach wet room with its own entrance for washing off sandy toes and salty dogs - the owners really have thought of everything.
Sleeping arrangements are flexible and thoughtfully designed. Three of the five suites are downstairs, including the principal suite with its super-king bed, ensuite with rainfall shower and bath, and tranquil views over the lawns. One of the downstairs rooms has a king bed plus bunk beds (ideal for families). Upstairs are two further king ensuite rooms with sea glimpses and sloping ceilings that add to the charm. Each bedroom feels private, peaceful and perfectly styled.
Outside, tiered lawns and sea-facing terraces make the most of the house’s elevated position. Dine alfresco as the sun sets over the cliffs, or sip a morning coffee as the tide rolls in. The sheltered lower garden - once a tennis court - is perfect for picnics or a game of catch.
When it’s time to explore, stroll down to Widemouth Bay’s golden sands or wander the South West Coast Path in either direction. Surfers will love the nearby surf school, while the historic harbour town of Bude, Tintagel Castle and Boscastle are just a short drive away. After a day of Cornish adventures, return to West Haven and soak up those breathtaking views once more.
