Reconnect with nature among The Trees at Birkins Croft, two unique cabins tucked away among the Derbyshire woodland. Named The Bairn and The Clan, these hand built holiday homes looks to combine enjoying the great outdoors but without losing those comforts of everyday life.
The Trees have been 10 years in the making and really has been a labour of love, which means that even the smallest detail has been agonised over. Built entirely using traditional carpentry techniques, guests step inside from the woodland into the luxury of the cabin. Inside The Bairn there is a king size bed, lit up by the central skylight that allows the sunshine to flood in during the warmer months. When things get a little chillier it is time to fire up the wood burning stove and snuggle up in one of the comfy chairs.
If you want to enjoy the space with the rest of the family then be sure to book The Bairn and The Clan together as a pair. The Clan is a separate cabin that comes complete with a permanent quaint double bed and an optional, additional single bed (as part of a bunk). With equally impressive craftsmanship on offer, The Clan, when booked alongside The Bairn, allows slightly larger groups of up to five friends or family to enjoy a lovely woodland holiday together.
Just a short trip from Bairn are the amenities, which consist of the Bothy and the Netty. The Bothy has an indoor BBQ which can be used in all weather, and is the kitchen and dining room for those staying at Birkins Croft. This open-sided shelter has everything needed to cook a culinary delight, including a fridge, kettle, and gas cooker. Then enjoy alfresco dining at the large wooden table. Meanwhile, the Netty is a shepherd's hut from the outside, but inside reveals itself to be a beautiful bathroom, complete with a copper basin, WC, shower, and the all important hot water.
The Trees is in an area known as the gateway to the Peak District and as such is the perfect starting point for getting out and about. The Peaks themselves are just 14 miles away and can be enjoyed in the day with some careful planning - including stopping off at the picturesque Bakewell, Matlock, and Buxton to enjoy a pint or a bite to eat.
For those who prefer to take things a little more slowly, there is an Indian Restaurant and a pub, The Holly Bush at Church Broughton within a few miles of Birkins Croft. There are also a host of tourist sites, suiting everyone from adrenaline junkies to history buffs, just a short drive away.
*Please note - as of April 2020, work has begun on a development within earshot of The Trees. Whilst you are likely to hear this during the day, work stops late afternoon/in the evenings. Whilst it cannot be seen you may hear the sound of machinery reversing and it is important to make you aware of this so you can plan your days accordingly.*
