Perched on the edge of a lake on a private estate in Staffordshire, the Tawny Boathouses offer a tranquil escape for couples or families. They're part of The Tawny which described itself as a ‘deconstructed hotel’, allowing you to remain in your secluded hideaway or enjoy the hotel amenities, such as the heated outdoor pool and the restaurant, as and when takes your fancy. Relax with a book on the deck at the one of the boathouses or wander along one of the paths that meanders around the estate's 70 acres, past beautiful follies and five lakes. Guests staying at a boathouse can soak up the scenery from the comfort of one of the two bathtubs, one indoors and one outdoors, and both perfectly positioned to enjoy the view.

The interior of each boathouse has been beautifully designed in a way that allows the lake to be the star of the show. To the front of the room, there are huge floor-to-ceiling windows that stretch the full width of the space. This allows in plenty of natural light, reflected from the surface of the water and offers stunning views over the lake and to the estate beyond. In the mornings, sit up in bed sipping a cup of coffee while you watch the mist rise from the water or curl up on the sofa in the evening soaking up the view. For the ultimate luxury, run yourself a bath and sit back and relax in the freestanding tub in front of the window.

The interior has been designed in a simple, contemporary style with deep blue walls and luxurious fabrics. The ensuite bathroom features a powerful walk-through shower and stylish twin sinks. The main room is open plan, centred around that stunning view. There is also the option of booking the ‘Boathouse Family’ which allows access to a room with twin bunks, suitable for children.

Outside, on the private deck, you’ll find a spot to enjoy dinner alfresco, delivered to your door by room service. There’s also an outdoor shower and a William Holland copper bath with water jets to create an outdoor spa experience. The perfect spot to relax and reconnect with nature.

The 70-acre Tawny estate is bursting with beautiful plants, trees and wildlife. Stride out from your front door and straight onto one of the paths that takes you around the estate via woodland, wetland and four other lakes. You might prefer to go for a relaxing swim in the heated outdoor pool enjoying the views down the valley or you could indulge in a treatment at the spa. In the evening, head up to the restaurant for a delicious meal, celebrating ingredients from Staffordshire and a selection of fantastic wine.
