The Roost Glamping is owned and managed by Lorraine Robinson.
The Roost is home to two gorgeous cedar wood cabins - The Nest and The Nook. Sleeping two adults (and up to two dogs) in each, the cabins can be rented together with friends or individually for a romantic escape. Both styled to perfection, you’ll find the cabins brimming with bespoke furniture and laid-back interiors. And with a cosy wood burning stove, outdoor Japanese hot tubs and your own private fire-pit, there’s plenty of opportunity to relax in style.
Situated in 2.5 acres of private meadow, The Nest and The Nook both have ample space to breathe in the beautiful surroundings. Both cabins have their own private landscaped areas to enjoy - with each cabin looking as charming and welcoming as the next.
The open-plan interior is perfectly put together. The lounge styling is suitably relaxed - with a thick rug, cosy textiles and well-stocked book shelves sitting perfectly next to the sofa, wood burning stove and romantic table for two.
The bespoke kitchen area has all you could need to rustle up simple meals, with an induction hob, fridge (with a small ice box) and a dishwasher. And the wooden worktops and open shelving keeps things looking superbly rustic. The basics are helpfully provided by the thoughtful owners - ground coffee, tea, rice, porridge etc. There’s even complimentary scones, butter and jam on arrival.
The handmade king size beds are stunning. Dressed in soft linens and plenty of blankets, they both make the cosiest nook or nest. And both bathrooms are sparkling clean with large walk-in power showers and complimentary toiletries - including beautiful handmade Mitcheldean soap.
Head back out through the large patio doors to revel in some time on your gorgeous covered deck. Here you can indulge in the Japanese hot tub and cedar swinging love seat - arguably, the most romantic decks in the whole of the Forest of Dean. There’s also a great firepit area that comes complete with a griddle and cooking utensils - perfect for some al-fresco cooking or marshmallow melting.
Both the cabins welcome up to two dogs. With their own handmade doggy truckle bed, blanket, dog treats, and water and food bowls, it’s safe to say that man’s best friend is perfectly provided for too! With walkies from the door, you’ll both easily be able to get out and explore the beautiful surroundings.
The location is fantastic, with walking and cycle routes through the forest from the door it couldn’t be easier to get out amongst the thick of it. Bring your own bikes or hire them onsite. If you prefer river-life then canoeing and wild swimming are both just a few minutes drive away. With plenty of places to eat out, you’ll be spoilt for choice. There’s even two micro breweries in the village of Mitcheldean - both of which have tap rooms open on Friday and Saturday.
The village Mitcheldean has two microbreweries open Friday/Saturdays. Both within 20 minute walk.
The forest is a great place to get outdoors. Cycling, walking, climbing, kayaking & canoeing plus wild swimming are all available nearby.

Where do I start with this beautiful hideaway. If you want peace and quite and relaxation away from the noise and stresses of life then look no further. We stayed here over Christmas and it was the first Christmas in 30 years that I didn’t have to cook for 20+ family members. We stayed in the nook and it was so beautiful. The views, the walks, the birds and the Forest of Dean literally took our breath away. We loved how everything was eco friendly and we recycled everything. Our Basset hound lully Suzy loved watching from the porch while mum and dad sat swinging in the swing seat wrapped in blankets enjoying the fresh morning crisp air. This really is the most beautiful relaxing get away. So much so that we left and booked to go back for our 25th anniversary in June 2022 , so I’m excited to see the difference in seasonal changes to when we went in December. I love this place and the nook or nest are thee idilic peaceful hideaway. We hate leaving our dog to go on holiday and Lorraine made our doggies trip even more enjoyable when Suzy sniffed out the treats in her bed. This place just keeps on winning awards and it’s no shock as to why. It really is beautiful down to every detail. We fell in-love and will continue to keep returning. Well done Lorraine it’s stunning.
