Learn moreLongview is found over half a mile up a private farm track in the middle of nowhere in a spot where you will only have the local wildlife as your neighbours. It sits in its own paddock with extensive views across Exmoor to Dartmoor, providing a hideaway in the Brendon Hills, allowing you to enjoy the peace and quiet of this beautiful part of the country. By day you will spot farm animals and red deer on your doorstep and by night you can relax by the firepit under the dark skies of Exmoor National Park, watching the stars. Leave your stresses behind and commune with nature.
The open-plan design of Longview cleverly combines everything you need for an unforgettable stay with a rustic, welcoming style. The compact kitchen area boasts a butler’s sink, fridge/freezer, toaster, kettle and coffee machine while an adjacent stable houses a two-ring hob and combination microwave oven for all your catering requirements.
A super comfy king size bed promises an inviting welcome at the end of a long day of exploring and gives you plenty of storage space too. The natural colour palette and fabrics ensure a cosy ambience for a snug night’s sleep with underfloor heating and a wood burner to keep the whole area warm and toasty on those chillier nights. No midnight trips to a toilet block are required with your own modern shower room complete with a flushable loo, fluffy towels and complimentary toiletries.
Outside your cabin, a decked seating area is the perfect spot to make the most of the expansive views across the paddock. A gas BBQ has a side hob to allow cooking outside and the firepit has a hanging pan as an additional cooking facility. What better way to enjoy the tranquility of your surroundings than with a tasty alfresco meal and a drink by moonlight? The stable has been converted to provide additional day accommodation with cooking facilities, and although basic, provides a cosy corner with table and chairs, a comfortable space for dogs and additional storage for bicycles and other holiday paraphenalia. You’ll also find a heated clothes rail for drying wet weather gear. Wi fi is accessible both here and in Longview.
There are plenty of adventures on your doorstep, directly from the hut, with wonderful walks across farmland and more rugged walks on the High Moor where herds of Exmoor ponies can be regularly seen. Wimbleball Lake with its sailing club and various water sports is also within walking distance. The rivers and streams with otters, dippers and kingfishers are plentiful and you’ll find friendly pubs in many of the Exmoor villages. In addition, the north Somerset and Devon coastline is beautiful and well worth a visit.

Leave a reviewAn incredible place to stay. Complete privacy but with the safety net of the lovely hosts, Jane and Nick, just up the lane. I felt so welcomed and looked after. The views are incredible. Everything I needed was there and if it wasn’t, I know Jane would have found me whatever I needed :) So so lovely and hoping to visit again next summer. X
