  The Detail...

With the beautiful shores of Loch Goil on one side and the majestic mountain range on the other, the Lodge on Loch Goil is a Victorian private country house that offers five star rooms and a stunning restaurant.

There are seven luxuriously decorated rooms inside the main lodge and a further one in the lochside summerhouse that is the perfect romantic escape. Each of the en-suite bedrooms is named after a Scottish island and their decor and furnishings are in perfect keeping with a building dating back to 1874. There are lovely touches, such as open fireplaces and roll top baths that add that little bit of luxury to each.

Meanwhile, the summerhouse is an intimate retreat with its position perched on the waters edge and the breathtaking views that come with it. Inside this secluded hideaway is a wood-burning stove, exposed beams overhead, and a mezzanine bedroom accessed by wooden steps.

There is also the treehouse, which has become an iconic image of the Lodge on the Loch Goil since it was constructed 15 years ago. A licensed marriage venue, as well as the perfect place for a private dining setting, with its amazing position overlooking the loch.

The restaurant uses the finest Scottish produce as the head chef conjures up a seasonal choice menu, which is accompanied by a perfectly matched wine list. These culinary delights are then served up in either the Orangery, Arts and Crafts dining room, or in the aforementioned treehouse.

Loch Goil is a sea loch that runs into Loch Long and there is plenty to do in this beautiful part of Scotland. There are day boats to hire for those who want to get out on the calm water and explore, or take in a days fishing. The area is also great to discover either on foot or by bike as well. Alternatively, Carrick Castle is a great visit for history buffs, while those who want to relax and unwind with a massage and a whole other range of treatments at the Sequoia Spa.
