Beautiful Scandi-style accommodation for two overlooking the Yair Valley in the Scottish Borders.
Hidden away in 500 acres of privately owned land in the Scottish Borders, The Studio at Faldonside Escapes provides a peaceful getaway for two among some stunning scenery. Originally a workshop, The Studio has been beautifully renovated and furnished in a Scandi style. Light floods in through the skylights and large bi-fold doors, creating a relaxed atmosphere during the day, while the log-burner will keep you cosy in the evenings. You’ll find special and unique features throughout, such as the salvaged sycamore window ledges created by local joiners. You can also soak up the view down the stunning Yair Valley from the enclosed garden. Faldonside Farm has a biomass boiler and solar panels which provide heating and hot water for your stay in an eco-friendly way.
The stylish, yet inviting, open plan kitchen and living area has been thoughtfully furnished to make sure you have everything you need in a relaxing space. The kitchen has all the appliances and utensils required for anything from a quick lunch to a three-course masterpiece. Move through to the living space and enjoy the magnificent views of the valley through the bi-fold doors which lead out to the garden. On chilly evenings, curl up on the comfy sofa in front of the log-burner with a favourite book or film. There’s an endless supply of wood from the farm to keep the stove going.
The luxurious bedroom features a sumptuous super king-size bed which can be transformed into two singles if required. Open the blinds in the morning and watch the mist rise from the valley from the comfort of your pillow. The modern ensuite bathroom features a separate shower and bath where you can soak after long walks exploring the Scottish Borders.
Faldonside Farm is located just outside Melrose on land which sits high above the River Tweed and the nearby Abbotsford House, former home of Sir Walter Scott. Go for a stroll around Faldonside Loch or venture further to Cauldshiels Loch. Along the way, be on the lookout for local wildlife, such as roe deer, badgers and great spotted woodpeckers. More ambitious walkers might want to tackle Borders Abbey Way or St Cuthberts Way. There’s plenty to explore in the local towns and villages too. Melrose and Kelso are lovely market towns with independent shops and a friendly atmosphere. Try some delicious Selkirk Bannock and explore the old textile mills in Selkirk or head off to Edinburgh for the day. Return to The Studio for a glass of wine in front of the wood-burner while you reflect on the day.
