These two bespoke shepherd’s huts are situated in a tranquil field on a working arable farm in Dorset. The owners have planted hedges, trees and wildflowers, as well as bird boxes, around the paddock to enhance the natural environment and support the wildlife which is in abundance around the farm. The two shepherd’s huts are called Hudrlemaker’s and Spindleberry, and whichever hut you choose, you’ll be delighted by the cosy yet spacious interior of the hut. Both huts have been charmingly decorated to a high standard in different woods, with each hut having a fantastic outdoor space that comes with an alfresco bath for added luxury.
Each hut also has a lovely, fully equipped little kitchen. Pop the kettle on and help yourself to the complimentary tea and coffee before taking yourself outside to lounge in the big wooden chairs and enjoy the peace and beauty that surrounds you.
No matter if it's a bit chilly, there's a fire pit outside and a wood burning stove inside helping you hunker down and get cosy whilst the rain falls outside. Each hut is perfect for any time of year. A king size bed is nestled at one end of both huts and there's a little window through which you can wave at the cows and admire the endless stretch of fields all around you. The place is very private despite its field location and is perfect for recharging the soul away from the busy world.
Once you've got the wood burner going you can pop your groceries in the mini fridge/freezer and prepare a feast in the kitchen to the sound of the crackling logs. This is the perfect time to pop open the complimentary prosecco, before sitting down at the tailor-made window table with its lovely cushioned benches to eat dinner by candle-light.
There's an en-suite shower in both huts for a quick freshen up, but if you really want to unwind, wait until sunset and head outside to the claw foot tub, run yourself a deep hot bath, throw in some rose petals, and sink in. Don't forget to take the rest of the fizz, to sip as you lie back and gaze at the stars with nothing but the hoots of owls for company. Some outdoor lights have been thoughtfully hung behind each bath, which enhance the already delightful experience.
If it’s going to be a warm evening, why not buy some sausages from one of the local farm shops and make use of the BBQ before settling down around the fire pit to chat or simply stare into the flames? Despite being in the middle of a field the owners have provided high speed WiFi making hopping online a breeze!
There are plenty of spectacular walks on your doorstep and the Dorset Gap is a must-see. Dorchester is just six miles away with many cafes, museums and restaurants. Vinny at Six is known for its eclectic British menu and cocktails. Or why not pop to Taste Brasserie for some breakfast and a slice of cake? You'll also find the Jurassic Coast with Weymouth's sandy beaches just 30 minutes drive away.
