The Details

From the outside, The Farmhouse is a charming authentic Highland home that oozes rural charm. But once you step inside, the modern interiors combine with the rustic features to create a calming atmosphere and a delightful stay for groups of up to eight guests. Big windows flood The Farmhouse with natural light and offer delightful views across the rolling hills outside and the meticulously designed home exudes sophistication and comfort that we’re sure you’ll love.

When you arrive, gather in one of the two superb living rooms, one of which - the sun room - has big leather sofas, huge windows and a modern wood-burning fireplace ensuring you can stay toasty and warm as you catch up with loved ones. There’s even a record player here so you can put some tunes on. The second living room is more cosy, with yet more super-comfy sofas, a feature fireplace and a pull down projector screen for cinematic movie nights. If you fancy getting away from the group for an afternoon of peace, where you can relax with a good book, you can head to the cosy snug where there’s another comfy sofa, an armchair and a TV.

When tummies rumble, The Farmhouse’s kitchen is fully equipped and has all the appliances and amenities you need - including a separate utility room - to make meal prep and washing up afterwards a breeze. There’s also a nice kitchen island with barstools, offering you a chance to perch with drink as your loved one whips up a feast. When dinner’s ready, dine together in the kitchen space on a glass dining table in front of some colourful artwork or take your meals in the lounge where a large, rustic dining table sets the scene for social dinners.

One of the true highlights of this stay is the fantastic wood-fired hot tub that sits in the garden. This is the ideal spot to soak in the warm water whilst taking in the view of the starry night sky above. The garden also features some outdoor seating and a wood-burner, so you can stay toasty and warm as you enjoy a drink watching the sun set over the hills.

When night falls, The Farmhouse has four bedrooms for you to choose from, all of which have been lovingly designed to offer a calming and peaceful night’s sleep. There are modern bathrooms on offer too, one of which features a sleek free-standing bathtub where you can enjoy an idyllic soak before bed.

Visiting the Highlands, especially the serene Angus Glens that surround you, offers an unforgettable escape into nature. Picture waking to birdsong, sipping coffee with breathtaking views of rolling hills and immersing yourself in the unspoiled beauty all around. Whether you're hiking scenic trails or simply soaking in the peaceful atmosphere, this tranquil retreat is perfect for relaxation or adventure.

The area around Hillockbrae offers a rich mix of culture, nature and family fun. Explore Kirriemuir, home of Peter Pan’s author and Bon Scott, or tour majestic Glamis Castle. Nearby lochs offer paddleboarding, biking and fishing, while farm shops like Barrie Box and Denhead sell fresh local produce. Enjoy scenic walks in the Angus Glens, golf or beach days at Lunan Bay. Visit steam railways, nature reserves and grand estates like Scone Palace - all within easy reach of the peaceful farm base.
