The Details...

Get out onto the smallholding in Wales at the Dairy Shed, a traditional stone barn that has been transformed into a beautiful holiday home. With lime-washed walls and wooden floors this old building is now a light and airy space.

Although situated on a smallholding near Aberaeron, the self-contained property has its own private entrance. Upon entering, guests walk into the open plan living area, which includes a large sofa and comfy armchair sitting in front of the television and wood burning stove. There is also a well equipped kitchen and dining table and chairs, with high vaulted ceilings and wooden beams above.

Then as if by magic, the bookshelf pushes backwards to reveal an adjoining timber barn with wildflower roof that is home to the bedroom. Here there is a comfy king size bed ensuring a fantastic night's sleep, and the walls are clad in birch ply to give the room a completely different and cosy feel. There is also a bathroom with walk in shower at the Dairy Shed.

From the living area guests walk through the oak French doors onto the outside deck. Here you're able to enjoy an afternoon or evening drink at the table and chairs overlooking the large private garden with fruit trees and the countryside beyond.

Head into the picturesque seaside town of Aberaeron and see all that it has to offer. Go down to harbourside and enjoy the fantastic views, before heading to The Harbourmaster a restaurant with a cosy atmosphere and a variety of delicious seafood dishes on offer. There is also plenty of fresh produce available at the harbour, including Carmarthenshire specialities such as mussels, scallops, cod, shrimp and sea bass. For those with a sweet tooth there is plenty of options for homemade ice cream.

You can also hop on a boat from New Quay and head across to Cardigan Bay, one of only two places on the British coast where bottlenose dolphins can be spotted in the wild. There are several companies offering tours to visit these amazing animals. Or enjoy the countryside by rail on the light railway, which was opened to the public in 1902 and gently winds its way from Devil's Bridge to Aberystwyth.
