Situated on the gorgeous hilltops of rural Cheshire, The Curlew Shepherd's Hut is a cosy retreat that's perfect for couples. Resembling a traditional cabin, the exterior has been repainted with forest green, assimilating this rural property with the surrounding countryside. With a peaceful double bed, outdoor dining table and chair set, a wooden Lutyens bench and a traditional, Blacksmith-crafted wood burner, The Curlew exudes peace and tranquillity.
Sleeping two, this hut is a romantic bolthole. With fresh, cream walls and a blue and yellow colour scheme, this property welcomes natural light. Maximising the space, in just one main room guests can find a wooden-topped kitchen counter complete with a traditional Victorian sink, a four-ring induction hob, a wooden table with two chairs for a cosy meal and a king size bed nestled below the window. Heated by the wood burner, this property is warm and homely no matter the weather.
The kitchen area similarly includes a microwave, a fridge and an electric fan heater. Elsewhere, the bathroom provides nothing but luxury, with a freestanding ceramic sink, heated towel rail, light wooden surfaces, a walk-in glass shower, an extensive bathroom mirror and a toilet.
Outside, guests can find a private gravel terrace, perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee and a pastry in the morning either on the choice of two outdoor dining table and chair sets or a wooden Lutyens bench. The perennial wildflower paddock surrounds the hut, with the private use of an enclosed summer house in the meadow permitted to provide extra space.
From grand houses to medieval deer parks, rural Cheshire has it all. If it’s history you’re after, why not take a pilgrimage to Quarry Bank in Wilmslow? An industrial heritage site, this one is perfect for exploring the picturesque gardens and surrounding countryside. In Altrincham, find Dunham Massey, an extensive house and garden complete with an ancient deer park.
Closer to home, try your hand at horse riding at Tarden Farm Riding Stables or swing a club or two at Mellor and Townscliffe Golf Club. Surrounded by moorland, woodland, countryside and canals, the local area offers a vast array of footpaths and bridleways for a truly Cheshire experience.
