Bespoke two-storey cabin with a balcony and a wood-fired hot tub located in private woodland on the edge of the Peak District.
Please note that the minimum stay for this property is 5 nights
Located in beautiful private woodland on the edge of the Peak District, the Cabin at Coppertop Wood is a bespoke timber-framed lodge set over two floors. Sleeping up to six guests in three bedrooms, it’s perfect for families looking for a peaceful escape surrounded by nature, or for a laid-back trip with a few friends.
When taking over Coppertop Wood, the owners found the site overgrown with non-native species. A proportion of these have been painstakingly removed with the goal of restoring traditional English woodland species and encouraging wildlife.
The cabin has been built to complement this ecosystem. Although the exterior is contemporary in its design, the timber used helps the building blend into the scenery. Guests can really make the most of the woodland surroundings with floor-to-ceiling windows in the living spaces, a balcony from the master bedroom and a wood-fired hot tub outside.
The living, dining and kitchen spaces are open, bright and spacious, with beautiful woodland light filtering in through big windows. On warmer days, you can extend your living space further by opening the big glass doors out onto the terrace, which is equipped with plenty of outdoor furniture.
A spiral staircase takes you upstairs where you’ll find the ensuite master bedroom. This double room has a relaxed feel, flooded with natural light and has doors that lead out onto a glass-fronted balcony. Sit level with the woodland canopy as you sip a cup of tea in the morning or enjoy a glass of something in the evening. There’s another double bedroom which is also spacious and bright thanks to skylights in the sloping ceiling. This room shares a second bathroom with a twin room, suitable for two children in single bunk beds.
You might want to spend your whole trip enjoying the peace and quiet offered by Coppertop Wood, however there’s plenty to explore in the local area. The woodland is located on the outskirts of the historic village of Lea and the cabin is within walking distance of the local pub, the Jug & Glass, and the Lea Gardens and Tea Rooms. A little further away, you’ll find more pretty villages and market towns including Bakewell, Buxton and Matlock. There’s also the Peak District National Park to explore. There are plenty of walking and cycling routes in the national park and you’ll be rewarded with spectacular scenery on all sides.
