The Detail...
Contemporary design meets the beauty of nature at the Sussex AirShip, a state-of-the-art structure created to counter the problems with pre-fabricated and timber buildings. Designed by Roderick James Architects this aluminium and stainless steel pod sits in its own private piece of woodland in the West Sussex hamlet of Five Oaks.
Although built with being economic in mind, the AirShip does not compromise when it comes to luxury. Guests enter through the main entrance into the living area. The domed windows at one end offer stunning views down into the valley, while there is also seating and a sofa that can be converted into a single bed. The galley kitchen sits in one corner with its island worktop, sink, fridge and cooking facilities. This consists of a two ring halogen electric hob and a combination microwave/grill/oven . There is also a wood stove and charcoal, logs, kindling and fire lighters are available to buy from the hosts, so you can hunker down for a cosy night in with a book and a good glass of wine.
At the other end of the pod there is a full size double bedroom with a super-comfy king size bed with extra storage and a dining table. Here there is also a shower room with hot water and a flushing toilet. There is another exit from the bedroom in the beautiful outdoor space. Here those staying will find the valley on one side and a meadow on the other, with a dew pond sitting in the middle of this picture-perfect woodland space. From here guests can explore the many countryside walks or just relax surrounded by this truly stunning natural environment.
On site there is a barbecue area and also the opportunity to take part in the bushcraft courses available. These are conducted by a resident instructor and guests can choose between either a two hour taster session or an all day experience.
As well as the many opportunities to get out and about in the country air, there are also plenty of other things to do nearby. The Spitfire Experience is worth checking out in Billinghurst, while animal lovers should head out to Fishers Farm Park and Knepps Wildland Safaris. For those who want to relax the Beauty Cocktail Spa can be found a short drive away in Horsham, or alternatively enjoy a tranquil canal cruise.

Have you stayed at Sussex AirShip?
Leave a review for this propertyThe woods were so tranquil and peaceful and we even spotted a deer. The local pub was a walk away but was well worth it and stunning. There are also beautiful walks in the area!"
Really loved the solitude. No TV or WiFi and intermittent phone signal meant you could get away from it all
Situated in its own woodland area and the drive through the woods made it seem even more remote.
Kitchen ideal for A long weekend with eggs, bread, butter and milk provided.
We didnt use the nearby pub as it would have been a bit of a walk so we used the on-site bbq.
All in all a great weekend"
