Situated in the rolling hills of West Sussex, Timber Country is a beautiful and rustic cabin that provides up to four guests a charming off-grid retreat. Surrounded by picturesque fields and the amazing South Downs National Park, you’ve got plenty to see and do in all directions, before retiring back to the cabin for a peaceful evening together.
Inside the cabin, huge windows allow you to watch the local wildlife as you enjoy a morning coffee on the sofa. You can also head out into your private garden where some outdoor seating offers a lovely spot to dine alfresco whilst taking in the view. There’s also a firepit out here, should you wish to toast marshmallows as the stars come out above. There’s something timeless about ending the day gathered around a crackling firepit and the official “dark sky” status ensures you’re in one of the rare places where the stars truly shine - no city glow, just pure celestial wonder. The cabin’s private deck is also a lovely place to unwind, with a luxurious outdoor bath offering you the chance to enjoy an indulgent soak amidst the sights and sounds of nature. And, with your own private field, you can relax in the sunshine on the grass or frolic and play with your loved ones as much as you wish.
When it comes to preparing meals, the quaint kitchenette is simply furnished with quality fixtures and fittings, including a small gas ring. There’s also a BBQ outside, along with some utensils, that ensure you can grill up some delicious local produce during your stay. On cool days there’s a wood-burning fireplace inside, between the kitchen and the bathroom, that creates a cosy and rustic ambiance, keeping you lovely and warm throughout your stay.
Upstairs you’ll find the king size bed in the sleeping loft that boasts the highest viewpoint around, with a windowsill perfect for perching your book or that last sip of tea before lights-out. Downstairs, stretch out on the plush Cocoon Ottoman sofa, which transforms into a generous king size bed by night. Stylish and sustainable, it’s made from recycled Coca-Cola bottles - eco-luxury at its finest. Keeping things green, the thoughtfully designed compost loo is clean, odourless and hassle-free. There’s no water needed, just a scoop of wood shavings and you’re good to go. There’s also a hot shower outside.
Set deep in nature, Timber Country runs entirely off solar power and gas, offering a self-sufficient, eco-conscious escape. Designed with sustainability in mind, every detail reflects a commitment to low-impact living. Perfect for those who love the idea of outdoor living but aren’t quite ready to pitch a tent, this retreat blends the freedom of the wild with a few thoughtful home comforts - ideal for a gentle step into off-grid life.
The cabin sits on a charming estate that offers a range of experiences to help you relax, restore and reconnect. Enjoy the WildSpa with a hot sauna and cold plunge, perfect post-treatment or workout. WildFit classes take fitness outdoors with inclusive, energising sessions led by expert instructors. The Rose Room provides a peaceful 17th century space for private holistic treatments. For animal lovers, equestrian experiences include countryside rides, farm walks and equine wellness workshops - welcoming all ages and abilities for a memorable countryside escape. The estate also sells their own honey, grass-fed beef and lamb, so you can purchase some of this delicious local produce to enjoy during your stay.
If you venture further afield, there’s lots to see and do nearby. The South Downs National Park offers endless opportunities for adventure and relaxation. Hike scenic trails like the South Downs Way, cycle rolling chalk hills or explore hidden woodlands and wildflower meadows. Visit charming market towns, historic estates and vineyards tucked into the landscape.
