The Details

This utterly marvellous home in Devon was originally built in 1502 and sleeps up to 10 guests and has a striking, beautiful interior. Ideal for your next getaway with friends and family, Starre House is a calming place in which you can relax and catch up with loved ones in style. The home sits in a peaceful village and when you step inside you’ll love the original features that provide an abundance of character and charm. Think original wooden beams, centuries-old panelling and ornate fireplaces, two being grand inglenook fireplaces.

When you arrive you can get comfy in the stunning lounge, where big leather sofas sit around a gorgeous inglenook fireplace. This is the perfect place to sit back with a drink in hand, catching up with loved ones as the flames flicker away. Big windows flood this space with natural light, whilst the chess board on the coffee table invites friendly competition. If you fancy a bit of peace, you can head to the snug and tuck into a good book or enjoy a movie night in the TV room. There’s even a superb games room with a pool table, which people of all ages will love.

When it comes to meal prep, Starre House has a stunning kitchen that’s nice and social thanks to its grand kitchen island. Sit on a barstool, drink in hand, catching up with your loved one as they whip up a feast making use of the modern appliances available. Then, when dinner’s ready, serve it up at the spacious dining table that sets the scene for epic feasts that stretch into the night. There’s also a quaint outdoor dining table for summer lunches or evenings spent enjoying a drink as the sun begins to set. Also outside is a nice lawn, where you can enjoy a game of croquet with your nearest and dearest.

When night falls, there are five wonderful bedrooms to choose from. One of these rooms has a double bed, whilst the other four are king size. The rooms feature exposed stone walls, vintage furnishings and super-comfy beds that combine to offer a peaceful night’s sleep. There are also four lovely bathrooms on offer, one of which has a deluxe, cast-iron bathtub for indulgent soaks.

The house sits in the charming seaside village of Beer. The village offers scenic walks along the South West Coast Path and fossil hunting on nearby beaches. Explore the ancient Beer Quarry Caves or enjoy fresh seafood at seaside cafés. Visit the picturesque Pecorama gardens and ride the model railway. The surrounding countryside boasts rolling hills, wildflower meadows and traditional pubs. Nearby towns like Lyme Regis and Sidmouth provide additional coastal charm, while Branscombe offers one of England’s most beautiful villages for a peaceful stroll.
