The Retreat is nestled away in the charming village of Sopley, on the edge of the scenic New Forest. A peaceful getaway for couples, small families or groups of friends, you’ll be staying in a striking modern lodge that sits next to the River Avon. Outside the lodge is a spacious decking area, perfect for relaxing and taking in the view, firing up the barbecue or soaking in your very own woodfired hot tub. For keen anglers, your stay includes fishing licences and equipment is available to hire in advance. In addition to the lodge is a separate summer house which is a great place to hang out or for guests to stay in the warmer months. The lodge is close to the grounds of Sopley Mill, making it ideal accommodation for a wedding or event held there.
The lodge itself has been delightfully designed, with a wooden exterior and decking area that matches the surroundings perfectly. The interior has been stylishly decorated, carefully furnished and includes all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. The large living area has a self-catering kitchen with appliances and essentials needed to cook up a feast, a cosy seating area with a double sofa bed and a wood burner to keep warm. The bedroom has a comfy double bed and an ensuite bathroom with a shower and toilet, which would be shared with the other guests.
Guests at the lodge can walk out onto the private decking area which overlooks the river, and has plenty of outdoor seating and a fire pit to warm up by and toast marshmallows in the evenings. Logs are included to fire up your private hot tub, perfect for enjoying a glass of bubbly under the stars. The separate summer house has more space to relax and is also furnished with a sofa bed.
There are lots of places to discover in the surrounding area, including some great walks from your doorstep, like down the scenic Avon Valley. The pub ‘The Woolpack Inn’ is a short walk away, popular with guests for its selection of local ales and delicious comfort food. Sopley sits on the edge of the New Forest and the lodge is the perfect base to discover the idyllic national park. Explore the many footpaths and bike trails that run through the ancient heathlands, woodlands and rivers; take in the views and see the local free-roaming wildlife, such as the famous ponies.
