The detail

This marvellous and lovingly crafted treehouse sits up in the branches of a stunning silver birch tree that is growing behind the gorgeous Georgian Farmhouse. Guests at the treehouse are offered stunning views of the rolling hills of the Horsecombe Valley and on to Baston Creek and the incredible Salcome Estuary.

The cedar shingle clad Treehouse has an elevated deck that surrounds the property, which ensures you have an ideal spot to enjoy some al fresco dinner or a glass of wine in the sunshine. From here you can not only take in the view, but you can also watch the farm’s rare breed Dartmoor Ponies. This space also has a cast iron fire bowl, which means you can cook a BBQ in summer, or treat yourself to toasted marshmallows.

Inside, the treehouse has plenty of rural charm, thanks to its rustic half round wood rail ceiling and gorgeous oak walls and floors. There are also tweedy chairs, and an electric flame effect wood burning stove to keep you warm all year round. The treehouse also has a large, solid oak double bed that has luxury linens, cushions and quilts, guaranteeing you a fantastic night’s sleep.

Spend your days out on the deck, or if the weather’s not so great, enjoy a game of cards or Scrabble, and eat tasty lunches on the hand crafted oak table.

The Treehouse also has a bespoke built kitchen, that makes use of oak worktops. It has everything you’ll need to cook delicious breakfasts, lunches and dinners; from the fridge-freezer, fan oven with grill, portable induction hob, and large white butler sink, to the Nespresso Coffee machine, seven-bottle wine cooler, Morphy Richards toaster, kettle and utensils.

When it comes to the bathroom, you’ll be pleased to know you have a working shower, lined with ceramic drift wood tiles, as well as underfloor heating, a heated towel rail and piping hot water. Guests are also able to make use of organic paragon free hair and body products. You also have a proper flushing loo at your disposal and a river rock granite wash-basin.

Guests who head out for the day are just a 15 minute stroll from the wonderful and popular waterside town of Salcombe. Here there are a number of amazing shops, delightful restaurants, quaint cafes, and some incredible pubs. All of this sits on some of Devon’s most spectacular coastline. You’re also just a stone’s throw from the lovely beaches of the Salcombe estuary. If you wish to head even further then you have all of south Devon to explore, with some amazing beaches, villages, and clifftop walks on offer.

We spent a lovely few days in this gorgeous treehouse revisiting all my childhood memories of Salcombe. It's close enough to walk into the town but far enough away so you have perfect peace and quiet. The owners were lovely, the treehouse is very well finished and extremely comfortable. I highly recommend taking the ferry from Salcombe to South Sands, then doing the Bolt Head walk. It does get extremely busy so start and end of season are best for a slightly quieter time. There are some fabulous restaurants or you can cook in the treehouse, sit out under the stars and look at the twinkling lights from the boats and town in the distance. I can't rate The Treehouse highly enough, fabulous stay.
