The Details...

When Memory House was first built back in 1890 it was the only property on Woolacombe esplanade and, despite other properties popping up, the spectacular views of the Woolacombe sands remain unchanged, apart from the odd surfer or two. This breathtaking period home is full of charm and character but has been stylishly and thoughtfully renovated ensuring guests enjoy traditional style with the modern comforts.

Step through the large doorway of this double fronted property into a grand hallway where you are greeted by a grand stairway which sweeps upstairs to the four beautiful bedrooms and bathrooms. Huge windows fill the property with light in every room, and 3.5 metre high ceilings add to the grandeur of the house. Almost every window offers guests views of the sea, perfect for wet weather days.

Wake up in the morning and enjoy breakfast whilst watching the surfers catching early waves and spend the evening sipping cocktails as the sun slides into the sea.
The kitchen and living area are open plan and a huge, gorgeous corner sofa makes the perfect spot to relax and take in the views. The Stephen Graver kitchen is stylish, modern and wonderfully well-equipped, making cooking an absolute pleasure.

On warmer evenings, take dinner outside onto the fabulous wrap-around terrace. Or relax with a drink in the hot tub and listen to the roar of the sea. When it's time for bed there are two glorious master bedrooms with super king beds, 250 thread count linen, large bay windows and large en-suite bathrooms. Two further bedrooms share a bathroom on the top floor. One is a comfortable double and another a lovely children's room with a single bed and a tiny piano to occupy any early risers.

Woolacombe is popular spot for surfers but its long sandy beach makes it a great choice for those holidaying with children. The beach often makes the top spot in Britain's best beach polls and is a wonderful stretch of golden sand.

Wander along the windswept sands to Putsborough beach and stop at The Rock Inn in Georgeham for some refreshment before heading back to Woolacombe. Nearby Ilfracombe is popular traditional seaside fishing village which has recently enjoyed the attentions of Damien Hurst, whose bronze sculpture 'Verity' is on long term loan to the town and is positioned pride of place on the promenade overlooking the ocean.
