Loch Bay Boathouse truly is the perfect escape-from-it-all destination. With its own shoreline, mini-harbour and secret waterfall - it's simply magical. Idyllically remote it may be, but its also an easy stroll into the pretty village of Stein, with its traditional inn and renowned restaurant. Spend your time taking in the fabulous sea, island and distant mountain views. Or, grab some binoculars and get closer to the impressive array of wildlife here - you can spot everything from dolphins and otters to herons and eagles.

Renovated by the Scottish singer Donovan, this unassuming boathouse has had its fair share of visitors over time including George Harrison and Patti Boyd. With an Arts and Crafts inspired interior, the house is as unique as its mesmerising location.

Inside the cosy lounge has an impressive double-height ceiling. With a multi-fuel burner and cosy sofas, its a welcoming space. And the panelled wall, exposed stone and unique artwork add plenty of character. Head up the stairs to the galleried sitting area and bedroom. With plenty of seating and a double and single bed, its a fabulous space to relax whilst taking in the sea views from the elevated windows.

Downstairs, the well-equipped kitchen/dining room has all you need to cook up a Scottish feast - with a cooker, fridge, freezer, and microwave. Theres also a washing machine and tumble dryer. And the large oak dining table has ample space for up to six hungry guests.

There are two downstairs bedrooms. The back bedroom has an antique four poster bed and stunning sea views - the perfect place to enjoy a leisurely morning cup of tea. The family bathroom is situated next door and has a bath and overhead shower. The large front bedroom has a double and single bed, beautiful Arts and Crafts bedroom suite and a handy ensuite WC. And the beautiful window seat overlooking Loch Bay is truly delightful.

The location is as magical as it gets. Situated right on the shore of Loch Bay you get to enjoy incredible sea, island and far-off mountain views. With its own harbour and even a waterfall, you are totally immersed in Loch Bays beautiful surroundings. There are also fabulous wildlife spotting opportunities to be had too, with seals, otters, dolphins, herons and eagles all regular visitors. And late night star gazing here is incredible.

Although the cottage is remote its also just an easy stroll from the pretty fishing village of Stein that has its own pub, The Stein Inn (the oldest inn on Skye) serving up local ales, hearty fare and a wide range of malt whiskies. Its also home to the renowned Loch Bay Restaurant that serves up the very best local produce - from hand-dived scallops to Highland wood pigeon. For those wanting to head a bit further then Dunvegan Castle is around seven miles away - you can also board a boat trip from here. The islands capital of Portree is just a 30 minute scenic drive away - this vibrant harbour town with its brightly painted houses, impressive cliffs, independent shops and restaurants is definitely worth a visit.
