  The Detail...

Occupying an elevated spot in the hills close to Ballater, Lary Farmhouse and Lary Steading are two spacious properties embedded on a historic estate, capable of accommodating up to twenty guests as a combination. Ideal for wedding groups, grouse hunting parties and keen anglers, Lary Farmhouse and Steading are the perfect self-catering holiday homes, especially for larger groups looking to spend time in the rugged, dramatic Highlands landscape of this area of Scotland.

Lary Steading is the larger of the two spaces, offering high end farmhouse-style accommodation for up to sixteen guests between eight bedrooms over two floors, while the neighbouring Lary Farmhouse is a two bedroom house capable of sleeping four guests between two double bedrooms which share a family style bathroom with roll top tub.

Everything about these two majestic properties subtly suggests elegant living and a decadent escape to the beautiful Scottish landscape. Internally finished to a high standard, with oak floors and handcrafted oak bathroom and kitchen cabinets, Lary Steading is the ultimate hunting lodge-style home to come back to after a long day of angling, shooting or simply exploring the surrounding pastures and woodlands.

While it has the aesthetics and grandeur of a historic Scottish hunting estate, guests at Lary Steading will be pleased to note the high quality modern amenities which make this such a comfortable self-catering house. As well as ceramic hob and oven, DVD enabled television in the study and laundry facilities, the entire property has Broadband internet. Lary Farmhouse is a smaller, more intimate space, but equally comfortable with its sweeping views of the glen and twenty-first century luxuries, boasting a substantial gas range in the quarry-tile floored kitchen, as well as one bedroom staff quarters with a private bathroom. The dining room is communal, located in Lary Farmhouse, so the two houses are rented together.

Visitors flock to the area from around the globe to experience the world-class hunting and fishing which the estate has to offer. Depending on the season and your preference, choose between fully guided or more independent experiences of deer stalking, various game shooting and of course fishing on either the Dee or the Don rivers, for more intimate or larger groups.

Those in your party who are interested in architecture, history, fine dining and distilleries will be delighted to spend time in the rich and diverse Aberdeenshire countryside, home to countless gastropubs, whiskey distilleries and ancient churches and castles. For excellent local grub in an authentic setting with fine cheer and excellent whiskey, head to Kildrummy Inn or the Potarch Hotel.
