This glamping gem can be found on Kingates Farm, which offers five acres of private land near the Isle of Wight's southernmost point. Here, guests can enjoy arresting valley views, dine al fresco under uninterrupted moonlit skies, and even have a swim in the on-site private pool. Although the setting may be rural, all mod cons are provided here. The kitchen comes fully equipped, while the separate "boudoir" bathroom will have you forgetting that you aren't staying in a hotel. Sleeping a maximum of two guests, this charming bolt hole is perfect for those couples who enjoy peace, picturesque surroundings, and the pleasure of each other's company.
Sitting on its own little private corner of Kingates Farm, the hut has been decorated to the highest of standards, with high quality fixtures, traditional wooden panelling, and wooden floors throughout. Guests will enter through the double-glazed patio doors into the open-planned living space. The living area contains a sofa, mini-wood burner (logs and firelighters included), and a TV, while the kitchenette comes well equipped with a sink, electric cooker, portable induction hob, and fridge.
There is a double vertical wall bed which, when folded up, allows space for a dining table and chairs for two. Separate from - but attached to - the hut is the en-suite shower room. This has a large walk-in shower, sink, toilet, and heated towel rail, while towels and toiletries are provided. Step outside the hut and onto the south facing garden/BBQ area where you can sit around the firepit, soak up the sun in the loungers, or relax in the shade at the covered patio seating. A private pool is also on site and can be booked in advance.
You will be perfectly positioned to explore the Isle of Wight. The Isle of Wight AONB makes up a significant portion of the southern part of the island, and there are lots of walking trails for visitors to explore. Nearby places of interest include St Catherine's Down, St Catherine's Lighthouse, Godshill Model Village, the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary, Amazon World Zoo Park, and Shanklin Chine ravine. Some of the numerous nearby beaches include Castlehaven, Rocken End, and Ventnor. Ventnor is also the nearest town to Kingates. A traditional seaside resort, it boasts its own microclimate, with more sunny days that the rest of the island. Still retaining its Victorian character, it has a number of café and eateries, along with a very active arts scene.

Leave a reviewSet in a quiet corner of the farm’s footprint, everything needed for a peaceful retreat is provided. It’s a comfortable and very complete experience. The hut is very well equipped with, log burner, a kitchen complete with a conduction hob, cooker and a very good shower. Outside a fire pit creates a great way to sit out on loungers, there is a bar b q are, under cover outdoor dining area, wash lines so really self contained. We really enjoyed our stay, the hosts were welcoming and then un-intrusive. Complimentary goods welcome you and the ability to order in ‘extras’ such as local grown and produced farm products is a great idea to help the local economy. Well sited for the multitude of bridleways that criss cross the island and an easy base for many of the island’s tourist attractions. I can say honestly, we enjoyed our time recharging our bodies just enjoying the absolute peace and quiet

My partner and I were lucky enough to stay at the Shepherds Hut, Julie has thought of everything you could possibly need. The hut is in a beautiful location on the island, what’s better than opening the stable doors in the morning and looking out onto the beautiful views of the IOW. We really didn’t want to come home. Thank you Julie for an amazing time
