The Detail...
Welcome aboard Houseboat Till, located in the heart of the beautiful city of York. The houseboat is the only one in the city to have its own freehold mooring and has been enjoying the wonderful views over the River Ouse from her current spot for over 30 years. Just five minutes from the shops, restaurants and historic sights of the city centre and five minutes from the stunning Yorkshire countryside, this location offers something for everyone. Up to six guests can enjoy the luxuries on board, making it perfect for everything from a romantic escape to a family trip.
Step below deck and you’ll find that the interior is deceptively spacious and the houseboat has central heating throughout to keep you warm and cosy whatever the weather. Down the steps, you’ll find yourself in the fully-equipped modern kitchen. There’s a table that seats six, the ideal spot to plan the day’s adventures over breakfast or for a cosy dinner in. The kitchen leads through to the large and inviting living room which features comfy sofas gathered around a TV. Challenge each other to a board game or two in the evening or watch a favourite film after a day exploring the city.
There are three delightful bedrooms on board. In the master bedroom, you’ll find a luxurious double bed and plenty of storage space. The furnishings, wooden details and the porthole above the bed all have a charming nautical feel. The Bowroom bedroom features a super king sized bed and bench seating which curve round with the shape of the houseboat’s bow. This room gets plenty of natural light thanks to the skylight. The light fittings around the room are reminiscent of portholes, as are the mirrors on each of the wardrobe doors. The final bedroom is a cosy twin with two comfortable single beds and plenty of wardrobe space. The modern bathroom has a full size bath where you can relax after a day exploring the delights of the Yorkshire countryside. There’s also an electric shower to help wake you up in the mornings.
Back above deck, the enclosed mooring has facilities for you to enjoy a barbeque in the sunshine. There is also a sun deck on the boat where you can take in the views over the river and the city.
York is a city with a rich history and you can still see evidence of its roots dating back to the Romans in its architecture and in the many fascinating museums. The York of today is a vibrant place where all this history sits alongside contemporary independent shops and some fantastic eateries, many of which are just minutes walk away from Houseboat Till. If you can pull yourself away from the city, you also have some of the most spectacular landscapes in the country right on your doorstep. The Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors are just a short drive away and offer walkers and cyclists many miles of stunning trails to explore.
