The Details...

Right on the doorstep of the glorious Lake District, Granary Escape is the place for a Cumbrian getaway in boutique style. A luxurious barn conversion, only 4 miles from Cockermouth, theres room for 4 in this characterful cottage.

Situated in the small village of Deanscales, Granary Escape is just a 5-minute walk from the local pub and has scenic countryside in all directions. The cottage has been restored to a high standard by local craftsmen, with chunky oak beams, wooden floors and a log-burning stove adding to its cosy, rustic feel.

In the open-plan lounge upstairs, youll find a flat-screen HD TV and home cinema system, so you can relax with a movie on the ample, sumptuous sofa. There is a gorgeous kitchen too, crafted in oak and slate and equipped with a dishwasher, fridge freezer, washer dryer and oven. There are patio and seating areas at the front and back of the cottage, the one at the back being sheltered and enclosed.

A king-size bedroom and a twin room, with top quality zip-lock beds which can be converted to a super-king, make Granary Escape perfect for family holidays, romantic breaks or get-togethers with friends. Egyptian cotton bed linen, towels and bathrobes are all supplied, and the free-standing bath and spacious glass shower in the sensual bathroom should definitely be enjoyed.

Nearby, the 400 year-old Old Posting House the aforementioned local does a fine selection of home-cooked food. There are also other options for eating out a short 10 minute drive away.

If youre planning an active break, Granary Escape has plenty of storage space for bikes, motorcycles and even canoes. The scenery around this part of the world is notoriously spectacular, of course, with Buttermere, Keswick and Loweswater a modest drive away. You can be on the Cumbrian coast in a little over 20 minutes too, with Whitehaven just over 12 miles west.

The nearest town, Cockermouth, is a picturesque place with an artistic quarter centred around the Market Place, and a good selection of restaurants. It was also the birthplace of poet William Wordsworth, whose home is just one of the historic treasures you may be able to visit while youre in town.

This beautiful corner of north-west England should not be missed, and Granary Escape is a fine choice to escape to.
