Surrounded by Cumbria’s idyllic Eden Valley. Grade II listed long house close to the Lakes.
The Glassonby Old Hall is a Grade II listed Cumbrian long house which has been lovingly restored by The Rowley Estates. Enveloped within a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it has a captivating location with sweeping views over the Eden Valley. Just a short drive away from the breath-taking Lake District and with views across to the Pennines, there really is no better place to enjoy an indulgent break with family or friends.
Dating back to the 1700’s, the historic farmhouse building has a seamless mix of the old and new, and combines its magnificent original features with the luxury modern comforts of home. Here, beamed ceilings, flagged stone floors and oak mullion windows sit perfectly alongside deluxe bathrooms, plush beds and contemporary kitchen appliances.
The sitting area is a cosy room which has comfortable leather sofas surrounding a traditional wood burning stove. Stone steps lead up to the remarkable galleried Great Hall room where a feature fireplace and high ceilings loom grandly over the beautiful table and chairs. The country-style kitchen is also fully equipped and has a four oven Aga as well as a separate hob and electric oven which is perfect for cooking up a delicious, local feast.
The stone-built hall has room for up to eight in three double bedrooms and a delightful twin room. The master double boasts an elegant four poster bed alongside a modern en-suite; the ground floor double bedroom has its own deluxe private shower room; while the third double and twin room share an additional bathroom suite. Each has its own unique charm with pretty shuttered windows, antique furniture and mesmerising rural views.
Outside, the hall has far-reaching country vistas which can be enjoyed from the lush garden and al fresco dining area. Explore the private grounds to find secluded woodland, shallow rivers and country pastures, or head further afield to discover the rolling hills and mesmerising beauty of the Eden Valley and Lake District. From here, many beautiful walks, hikes and cycle rides can be found along with pony trekking, sailing and idyllic nature trails. The picturesque village of Melmerby is also just a short drive away and is ideal for treating yourself to some of the fresh, local produce or a relaxed evening at the local pub.
