Enjoy a relaxing break in this fabulous treehouse that sits on a 15th Century farmstead, in an historic Kent village near Canterbury. Made from recycled timbers and offering stunning views across the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it’s hard to believe this cosy escape is less than two hours’ away from London.
This truly unique holiday home sleeps two guests and has been constructed around an old tree in the grounds, which grows up through the treehouse. After making the ascent up the wooden staircase into the property, those staying are greeted by a cleverly designed space. Comfort has not been compromised, as guests are presented with a large double bed with luxurious linen and secure and sturdy windows keeping the interior lovely and warm - even when the weather outside is not.
There is also a sumptuous leather armchair, beautiful cushions and a rug to give it a homely feel. A small kitchen area with basic breakfast essentials and an electric hob allows guests to make tea and coffee, among other things, while there is a surprising amount of storage space to keep things safe.
On the ground floor is a small cabin with a chemical toilet, while those staying can use the shower facilities in the main house. Surrounded by the fantastic Kent countryside, there really is an impression of blending inside and outside at Elham Treehouse and this can be further emphasised with the use of the charcoal barbecue which is provided.
For those that don’t fancy cooking themselves, the village of Elham is a little over a mile away and has three pubs serving delicious food, as well as a tea room. The village itself is stepped in history and is surrounded by natural beauty, so walking around and taking in the sights is highly recommended. There is also Elham Valley Vineyard for the wine lovers.
Venturing a little further afield leads to the historic cathedral city of Canterbury, which is just a 25-minute drive away with its great architecture and cobbled streets. Only 30 minutes away is the traditional fishing town of Whitstable, while Herne Bay is another classic nearby seaside resort.
