A picturesque cottage in the midst of Dungeness, Kent, East Cottage is mere minutes from the beach. Sleeping four across two bedrooms, there’s plenty of room for a small family to enjoy some quiet time in one of the UK’s most beautiful seaside towns. The first bedroom houses a double bed, sleeping two, with snapshots across the Dungeness shingle. The second is furnished with twin beds that can easily be reworked into a super-king, again sleeping two. The uber-cosy sitting room is a double-aspect room comprised of plush seating for four, a wood-burning stove to ensure comfort during the winter months, and a coffee table for an extra element of vintage.
The dining room composes a sociable, family-oriented atmosphere, furnished with a long, rustic wooden table and chairs seating up to six, shelving for extra storage space, and another fantastic woodburning stove. A door connects the dining room to the kitchen, equipped with a dishwasher and a washing machine/dryer for all modern needs. Likewise, the bathroom hosts an opulent bathtub with an overhead shower, a wash basin and a WC, and is decorated with gorgeous cream-coloured cabinets and smart tiling. The exterior is accessible via the open gardens leading to the front, comprised of a table and chairs for four. The cottage's pathway provides access to a sun-soaked courtyard area with extra seating.
A small fishing town at the southernmost point of Kent, Dungeness has an array of seaside delights. The Old Lighthouse is located right next to East Cottage, a historic Grade II-listed building that operated between 1904 and 1960. The RSPB Dungeness Nature Reserve provides vistas of wildflower meadows, marshland and shingle ridges alongside the promise of rare birds. For a bite to eat, the Snack Shack serves homemade flatbreads with fresh produce from its fishing boats, with The Pilot Inn dishing out the best fish and chips in the area.
