Nestled in the idyllic village of Langton Herring, Dorset, Coastguards Retreat is the essential destination for any family holiday.

Escape the hustle and bustle inside this sociable yet cosy property, furnished with a log burner, rainfall shower, underfloor heating and an open-plan living space complete with a separate bar area.

Outside, the gravelled garden spills out onto lovely views of the stunning Dorset countryside. Sun loungers and BBQ equipment are provided, alongside an additional seating area for a family meal spent beneath the sunshine. This property is situated at the heart of the famous Jurassic Coast, full of ancient coves and hidden gems.

Sleeping six, Coastguards Retreat is apt for a family retreat spent amidst one of the most beautiful coastal areas in England. Newly renovated, this property is bright and airy, operating around a teal, blue and cream colour palette to evoke a seaside feel. Choose between three bedrooms, comprised of a master bedroom complete with a king size bed and sea views; a twin bedroom with single beds and snapshots of the rolling Dorset hills; and a ground-floor double bedroom. Soak it up in the family bathroom furnished with a deep bath and rainfall shower, heated towel rail and a large airing cupboard, or enjoy accessibility in the ground floor’s compact shower room.

Meanwhile, the kitchen welcomes in the sunlight with large, floor-to-ceiling glass doors spilling out onto the seaside exterior. With integrated appliances including a dishwasher, fridge/freezer and double oven, guests are provided with everything necessary to cook up a wholesome family meal. A separate bar area boasts a glass-fronted drinks fridge and a Nespresso coffee machine, apt for an evening soirée complete with cocktails or an early morning coffee. With an open-plan dining area attached, this area is finished with a six-seater dining table and bench.

Another sociable space, the living room is similarly open-plan, with two seating areas, an L-shaped sofa, picture windows and a log burner. Soundtrack your stay with the bluetooth speaker, enjoy a movie night on the flatscreen smart TV, or choose from a range of games, jigsaws or a fully-stocked bookcase – the choice is yours. In the utility room, guests can find a washer/dryer, a hanging area for coats and an additional boot store outside.

Amble on down to Chesil Beach for an afternoon spent amongst the shingles, with cafés on hand for an ice cream and numerous fishing spots. Elsewhere, pay a visit to the thousand-year-old Corfe Castle, a ruinous royal residence shaped by warfare. Surrounded by the rolling Purbeck Hills, the top of the castle boasts extensive views all the way from Poole Bay to the Isle of Wight. Looking directly onto the castle, the village hosts a cosy 18th century tearoom and garden.
