The Details...

In the northern acres of Brook House Woods, suspended between ash and oak trees above a sea of bluebells, hangs Goji, an engineered permanent tent which sleeps two people on single foldable futon beds. The extraordinary tree tent is accessed via a hand-crafted staircase, built from timber local to the forest. It also enjoys a substantial private balcony, the ideal vantage point to sit with a glass of wine and gaze out over the flora and fauna of Frome valley below. Set high up in the canopies of this beautiful forest, Goji is truly a marvel of architecture and vision.

Inside the tent, a wood-burning stove has been fitted to ensure fun and comfort regardless of the season. The pleasing design of this innovative, Scandinavian-inspired tent emphasises light, clean lines, and geometric shapes. A glass roof means that instead of the television, guests can drift off to sleep watching the stars rise, with the occasional owl passing above the porthole style window of this spherical escape. The stripped-back interior prizes functional aesthetics and minimalist comfort, creating a space where the beauty and tranquility of nature are the focus.

Goji is part of Wilding Camp, which includes a handful of other properties scattered on this private, managed woodland. The amenities of Wilding Camp, including a pizza oven and compost loos, as well as full showers and various eco-friendly leisure activities, are just fifty yards from the base of Goji. Naturally, guests choose this unique tree-top tent to escape from the noise, pollution, and stresses of frantic urban life. That said, at Wilding Camp, peace and relaxation don’t have to mean hermetic solitude, as there are a number of activities which guests can take part in, either expertly guided or under their own steam. As well as the tennis court and wood-powered hot tub, there is also a sound bath, Swedish massage, and multiple woodworking classes to choose from, as well as foraging expeditions to prepare artisanal gins and pizzas, which are then fired in the on-site pizza oven. Yoga and beauty treatments are also available.

Outside of the woods, you’ll find yourself immersed in the heritage of this area, with its abundance of historic pubs, restaurants, and craft. Just under five miles away from Brook House Woods, the Live and Let Live is a 16th Century pub with a thatched roof, sitting on a two hundred and twenty acre patch of untouched common land. Alternatively, just three-and-a-half well-signposted miles away on foot or by bicycle you’ll find the Green Dragon, with its famous selection of local beers and ciders, fantastic Sunday roasts, and bi-monthly folk music nights.
