  The Detail...

Enjoy a marvellous relaxing break in this redeveloped cottage that's sophisticated, comfy, and features everything you need for a delightful stay. This traditional Northumbrian cottage sits in the heart of the pretty village of Lesbury, halfway between Alnwick and the golden sands of Alnmouth.

Sleeping up to six guests, the holiday home benefits from plenty of social spaces with two reception rooms on the ground floor. The open plan living and dining room has comfy sofas, a wood burning stove, flat screen TV, and a dining table seating up to six people. A second sitting room has a double sofa, armchair, gas burner, and an array of books. Both rooms benefit from original features, such as the inglenook fireplaces and oak beams giving it plenty of rustic charm.

The fully equipped kitchen is warmed by a traditional Aga, but is brought up-to-date with sleek granite worktops and integrated appliances in a modern shaker style. There is also a fridge/freezer, utility room with dishwasher and washing machine, and a separate cloakroom with basin and WC.

On the first floor are the three bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms have super king beds, with one also having a built-in wardrobe, feature fireplace, and a large en-suite bathroom with a shower and bath. The other has an en-suite shower room. The third and final bedroom is king size and is accompanied by the family bathroom, which has a shower, and also offers a framed view of the charming village bowling green.

Access from the rear of Bowls Cottage leads into a private enclosed courtyard, which is ideal for outdoor dining and relaxing in the summer sunshine. At the front of the property is a further enclosed lawned garden.

The hamlet of Lesbury itself has a village shop for essential supplies, while the Coach Inn offers hearty pub meals and a selection of ales. There are more amenities just 4 miles away in the town of Alnwick, which is home to the Alnwick Castle and Gardens, while specialist shops and quaint cafes are dotted along the cobbled streets. Alternatively those staying can make the short mile-and-a-half mile hop to Alnmouth and the coast, which as well as stunning surroundings has an array of restaurants, galleries, and pubs.
