The timber cladding and rusted tin roof allow the sounds of nature indoors. Whether you’re snuggling up on a cold autumn evening or sliding open the patio doors to bask in the summer sun, it’s your dream couples escape to Scotland.
Nestled in the beautiful village of Nethy Bridge in the north of the Cairngorms National Park, Arbor Bothy is the perfect base to explore the Scottish Highlands. Designed and built with nature at its core, Arbor Bothy is energy-efficient and built from sustainable local materials, while being cosy and comfortable, yet spacious and light.
As you enter, your eyes immediately scan the full-size Ordnance Survey Map on the wall to plan your next Scottish adventure. The wooden floors and natural tones invite the outside in and give a nod to the rugged yet comforting surroundings of Scotland. In the evenings, sink into the plush sofas and armchairs around the crackling log burner and reflect on a day well spent. In warmer periods, light the chiminea on your private patio and relax with a drink in the hammock chairs as you let the stresses of modern life fade away. As the sun sets, you’re greeted with stunning dark skies, filled with more stars than you can count.
But don’t worry, as the night draws in and you climb into the super-king size bed, sinking into thick, soft bedding, the large skylight above your head keeps the night sky in full view. You truly can drift off under the stars. In the morning, wake up to the gentle sunrise and rustle up a filling breakfast in the fully-fitted kitchen before taking it outside to dine alfresco in the sitooterie. Your walk-in rain shower, complete with fluffy towels, a hair dryer and clothes steamer is perfect for freshening up before a day exploring the wilds of Scotland.
Perched at the northern edge of the Cairngorms, close to the banks of the River Spey, Arbor Bothy is the ideal base to experience everything on offer, just make sure you bring your binoculars! There’s a good chance you’ll see red squirrels, golden and white-tailed eagles, red and roe deer, pine martens and much more. Nearby Loch Garten is perfect for a relaxed stroll while you keep your eyes peeled for ospreys, in one of the only places they breed in the UK. In the winter months, head to Aviemore and Cairngorm Mountain to see reindeer. Further afield, there are countless Speyside Whisky distilleries to sample, the beautiful shores of Loch Ness, the quaint towns of Grantown-on-Spey and Braemar, and the outdoor sports mecca of Aviemore.
