In charming and topographically gorgeous Dorset, not far from the Jurassic Coast and Lyme Regis, The Apple Loft at Laverstock is a self-contained loft-style apartment above a farm building, with timber floors, exposed beams and far-reaching views over the orchards below. The ideal pad for a solo traveller or couple looking for a spot in the hills of the Westcountry, The Apple Loft is a peaceful and architecturally unique self-catering loft, the perfect place from which to explore England’s stunning southwest.
To step into The Apple Loft is to feel at once at peace with and comforted by one’s surroundings. The space is light-filled and enjoys high ceilings. The furnishings are charming, with only a few well-chosen pieces in this minimalistic space. There is an undeniable joy on reclining into the soft sofa, or approaching the stove to prepare a hearty breakfast, light romantic supper, or picnic to take it with you. The AndSoToBed king-size bed is tucked away in an alcove, off the main space, and the bathroom is pleasingly modern.
Enjoy a hot shower with excellent pressure, and take advantage of Superfast WiFi. This is a property with classical beauty, but no compromises regarding the modern amenities we’re accustomed to. While away the evenings, after a long day hiking, swimming or exploring, by watching a DVD on the television, enjoying a book, or venturing to the nearby Laverstock communal room, with its table tennis table, air hockey, pool table and table football.
Your proximity to one of the most iconic and beloved stretches of coastline anywhere in Britain means that you’re bound to make the short trip to the beach at least once, no matter how short your stay. Visit Chesil Beach or head to Lyme Regis and experience the coastal existence made famous by so many works of literature. For the more active, experience everything from fishing to sailing, swimming to surfing, before drying off and continuing along this quintessentially English coast, taking in fish and chips, local cider and soaking in the Westcountry way of life. Burton Bradstock and Cogden Beach are particularly popular with families, so do investigate.
As far as dining is concerned, you’re spoiled for choice; The Watch House café is a hearty recommendation for breakfasts, lunches and sea views while for organic fare fresh from the attached farm, you can’t beat Down House Café in nearby Eype. For simply prepared, incredibly local seafood head to Lyme Regis and visit the Mark Hix Restaurant. Alternatively, The Crab House Café in Wyke Regis is the place for wooden boards of fresh crabs you smash open yourself.
