The Details...

When the Country Life Editor came to stay here he kindly declared it to be “one of the best cottages you can rent in Wales”.

Set in 100 private acres, with unrivalled views across the Black Mountains, this meticulously restored farm house will turn your head and leave you captivated.

Step onto the traditional Welsh flagstones, warm and toasty with underfloor heating, to find a great combination of authentic farmhouse, thick stone walls, ancient old oak beams and a large open fireplace, coupled with subtle contemporary touches and style...comfy linen armchairs, flat screen TV, Wi-Fi and vintage welsh blankets...deeply comfortable and perfect for relaxing away the days.

Step out of the sitting room and the most spectacular room is still to come, a stunning oak and glass conservatory housing the open plan kitchen and dining room, the views from the breakfast table really do have to be seen to be believed. An exceptional vista of the Black Mountains, and thoroughly enjoyable with a cup of tea first thing in the morning.

As well as a traditional Welsh dresser and farmhouse table there are on trend zinc worktops, a butler sink with funky taps, solid oak units, old stone seats and gorgeous art work. There is a walk in larder and good sized laundry area, with country boot room too.

As well as the main reception rooms you will find a separate snug with a double sofa bed, which can be made up to sleep an extra two persons for a small surcharge. There is also a downstairs wet room and loo as well as a large downstairs playroom/bedroom which is perfect for older guests who may not wish to tackle stairs or bunk beds.

Upstairs, there are four lovely bedrooms, a huge super king-size, a traditional double, a twin and a bunk bed room, all guaranteeing some great sleep and a fabulous family bathroom with huge wet room shower, a bath tub with views and a beautiful stone basin.

Walk, bike or pony trek around the area, then eat well within the heartland of Welsh food revolution, with top restaurants and pubs, The Walnut Tree Inn, The Hardwick, The Foxhunter and Felin Fach Griffin all within easy reach.

Abergavenny is the nearest town, with independent cinema, shops for supplies and an excellent food festival each September. Hay on Wye is loved by all, with over 30 book shops, the River Wye nearby for canoe rental and a world famous Hay Festival every May half term.
