Nestled in the delightful, fashionable and vibrant Manchester suburb of Didsbury, sits this charming and utterly unique holiday home offering both style and comfort. York stone entrance hall and rugged, pretty wooden floor combine ensuring this beautiful cottage has a rustic and stylish quality. Designed by the owner, an architect, this boutique self-catering cottage, has many touches of brilliance, from artistic flourishes to great storage spaces and fantastic, chic furniture. In winter thermostatically controlled underfloor heating keeps a constant temperature for you to cosy up on the couch with a good book. Come summer, sit out front in the sunshine with your morning coffee before heading out to explore the city.
Every inch of this astounding cottage has been thought through. The kitchen is kitted out wonderfully and features a gorgeous giant 18th Century wooden workbench as a dining table, as well as some stunning pre-1914 French encaustic cement tiles on the floor. The open plan living space, which includes the stylish kitchen, is long and filled with natural light thanks to bright white walls, high vaulted ceiling and big skylight windows.
Climb the bespoke metal spiral staircase, itself is a work of art set amidst exposed brick walls and York stone flooring, to the next level with a wonderful bedroom. This pop art inspired master bedroom is luxurious with a king size bed, relyon mattress, its own TV with DVD player and large window letting in plenty of light. The second bedroom is directly below and a nice twin, with charming Peter Pan wallpaper that children will adore. There’s also a delightful bathroom, with a big deep Philippe Starck bathtub, the perfect place for deep relaxation and reflection at the end of the day.
This inspiring cottage has been hand designed from start to finish, with so many wonderful touches and additions. You’ll be forgiven for not wanting to leave. However, if you decide to venture out you have plenty to see and do in both Didsbury and the rest of Manchester. If you hop on the tram you’re only 15 minutes from the centre of the city, and thanks to the extensive road networks nearby, you’re also not too far from the Lake District, North Wales, the Peak District, the Yorkshire Dales and the lovely city of Liverpool. Spend your days wandering the streets of Manchester, however, and you’re presented with cracking restaurants, cafes and bars, as well as plenty of other things to see and do. Sports fans can visit the National Football Museum, or go and watch City, United or the Lancashire County Cricket team. The city centre, Trafford Centre and Salford Quays also offer cracking shopping opportunities.

Leave a reviewBeautiful cottage, clean, cosy and furnished to a high standard. The location is ideal, plenty of places to eat and quirky independent shops to browse. David had left all the basics including milk, coffee and tea which was much appreciated after a long drive we could relax and refuel before going out to find some food. Thank you for a relaxing weekend David, it was lovely to meet you. Wish we could have stayed longer.

We had a lovely stay in this beautifully well thought through, decorated and furnished cottage in Didsbury. It's really comfortable, everything looks great and works well. It was lovely to meet David too, who popped round to make sure everything was good - it was better than that! We'd love to come again. Alison and RIchard

The perfect location for our Brand photo shoot! So many quirky patterns, textures, and settings to work with... the pictures have turned out FAB. David's place is beautifully thought-out, which has very obviously been designed with lots of love - it's a credit to him.

Funky, boutique, cool place to stay in Manchester. Wants for nothing. Loved the design features including spiral stairs to master bedroom upstairs. Kids loved it and we appreciated the family-friendly vibe. We have stayed in some amazing holiday lets and this is one of the best. We’ll be back!
