1 Force Mill Barn is a fantastic escape from the modern world, set in the stunning valleys and idyllic landscapes of the Lake District’s Grizedale Valley. With space for four people and recently renovated to the highest standard, it’s the perfect rural base to explore the beautiful Lake District and reconnect with family.
As you approach 1 Force Mill Barn, you’re greeted with a rustic, traditional barn that’s your haven from the outside world. Thoughts of snuggling up under a blanket after a day exploring the Lake District fill your mind as you open the front door. Enter the stone building and wonder at the modern, luxury interior that’s your new home from home. Exposed wooden beams, rustic wooden floors, plush velvet furniture and natural tones bring the outside in.
The sumptuous open-plan kitchen/living area is the ideal spot to relax and unwind with family or friends. The fully-equipped kitchen features everything you need, from a coffee machine for your morning brew, to Smeg appliances for cooking up a feast. During the warmer months, dine alfresco on the patio furniture, take in the idyllic natural surroundings and listen to the trickling waters of Force Forge as it meanders through the garden.
As the night draws in, relax on the comfy sofas in front of the large smart TV, or retreat to the snug for a cosy curl-up with a book. As it gets later, head to one of the two king size bedrooms. The master bedroom features exposed wooden beams, dark panelling and a freestanding roll-top bath to soak away the stresses of the day. In the morning, a walk-in shower is the perfect place to refresh for the day ahead.
Nature lovers will be in their element as the Grizedale Valley is a hotspot for nature. View a huge variety of wild birds in and around the forests, and spot the UK’s last wild herd of red deer among the fields. Explore the rugged hills, stroll sculptural trails, enjoy pony trekking and wonder at the night skies for something slower-paced, while those who enjoy the adrenaline rush are well served with miles of mountain bike trails. To take in the best of the Lake District, the nearby Coniston Fell Range is the perfect place to see seven magnificent Wainwright summits (Coniston Old Man, Dow Crag, Swirl How, Brim Fell, Wetherlam, Great Carrs & Great Friar).
The Eagles Head pub is a cosy spot in the nearby village of Satterthwaite that’s popular with locals and visitors alike. Further afield, explore the collection of independent shops, cafes and restaurants in the villages of Hawkshead, Ambleside, and Coniston.
